I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and Motherboard in the near future, as those are some of the last remaining parts of my old HP computer. My current CPU is the old i7, an i7 860 2.8 GHz. I can't change only the CPU because the current motherboard is LGA 1156 (and there are probably locks in place); the CPU I want is an i7 2600K (which is LGA 1155). Meaning I need to upgrade both. ...Yay. The reason I want to go with i7 rather than i5 is because I do quite a bit of video editing.
- I'll probably be buying it from a nearby Microcenter so the price will probably be more around $200-230 rather than $299.
However, I don't really know much about what I need for a motherboard.
List of what I have (if that's any help):
PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W
GPU: nVidia GTX 465
RAM: 4x2GB (DDR3-1333)
HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM
(might be adding a SSD in the future, or an extra HD)
Case: Corsair Carbide Series 500R
-4 x 120mm fans (might be 4 + H60 Radiator
-1 x 200mm side fan
Extra: CD/DVD Drive
Also USB 3.0 preferred. Additionally, I most likely won't ever be doing SLI or Crossfire.
I really don't want to break my bank over a motherboard, if that's possible. Maybe $200 or less? The lower and suits all the parts the better. Any suggestions?
