I'm trying to figure out if this VPN is actually helping because it doesn't really seem like it is. I'm not noticing any difference in latency when I am connected to Korean VPN vs not connected. I'd like to get some hard numbers but I can't figure out how to check my ping in game. Is there an equivalent of /ping in Korean that I can type?

u r suppose to connect to a place halfway between you and korea. don't forget YOU still have to connect to the place that has better connection to korea.

Sadly there is no /ping command in B&S Korea.
May I ask where you live and what VPN you are using? Maybe I can help you.

I live on the east coast USA. I'm using moon.pptp.kr as IP. Not sure if that's what you're asking. I just connect using windows, not a client.

just type cmd on the start search bar, press enter.
use the command 'ping' with a few Korean servers/website. If you can also the servers of BnS.
Now run your vpn. and do the tests on the same servers. This will give you an idea what the difference is of the ping with and without vpn.

Though don't get the idea that you will have the same ping in game. It might be close to those numbers, but there is no saying for sure.

I`m using the same VPN as you, but I dont like it, I get like 0.5 - 1.0 delay each skill, i`m using WTFast right now.

its much worse than WTFAST, however, free VPN never will be better than nonfree.
Even if you will try to use WFAST do not connect to Korea server, just go to SanJose or Virginia. But if you live in USA then there is possibility that any VPN wont help you and ping wo that should be fine.

How much delay you get in using SanJose or Virginia?

Test your ping with http://speedtest.net/ to a Korean server. This should give you a close idea to what your ping ingame is like.

Collect 10 results without the VPN; find the average.

Collect 10 results with the VPN; find the average.

Decide for yourself if the percent difference is worth the money.

windows command prompt

netstat -b
shows all connections with corresponding process and IP, just look for Client.exe.
There will be more then one of course since there are several servers for maps, zones, login, sandbox etc.
I don't know which one the gameserver is but that shouldn't matter.

ping [IP]
well checks the ping of course

tracert [IP]
routing to end server with responsetimes for all "backbones" (not sure if that is right word here, i'm from germany)


Trying to bypass bad points via VPN is, i guess, not so easy. I never tried it.
