Is that what the big Desert is? Or is it just a place for the women to sweat until they start undressing and go back to doing martial arts only now in their panties?

The desert is expansive, but it's pretty empty. Sure there's the occasional structure here and there, but other than that, it's just sand everywhere (it's a desert after all). Probably it's main importance is the faction zone for quests and the inn.

In terms of exploration, I'd love to see just neat areas to go to. Hidden caves that maybe don't serve a huge purpose, but hold some neat looking stuff inside. Stuff that encourages people to look around, not just go to the next quest.

As for maps being linear, they sorta are. You do go back to a few places for a quest or so (and dailies if you want), but other than that you just leave it once done questing and proceed to clear the next area.

Well, I didn't look at BnS for a huge open game, despite all MMOs should be open worlds, but I got Archeage to look to for that.

Although the wind may appear soft and inviting, it has the potential to be as thin and sharp as a blade.

It not a bad thing for expect wider world when come to MMO. But I wasn't worry about that at all due to the fact that it still a bunch of area in the art work that still not show up. And I'm sure that if we feedback about this think to Bloodlust team, they gonna make it bigger for sure.

And still don't forget that their are a lot more attire for you to obtain according to the interviews. Who know may be after level 40 you may got 3 new huge region to explore in a 3 or 6 differences story line :) (And we gonna cry because we want to know all of it  )

ppl comparing tera and other action mmos with bns now? jeez >_>

for one thing, the only difference between bns and tera in terms of combat is auto-targeting.

in tera, if u face a mob and auto attack, and the mob moves to the side, ur character wont follow...while in bns ur character WILL follow the target and keep attacking.

and the stutter u get when u enter a new area/zone is bc the game is loading the files. i guess u can say bns is not really open world due to this, but eh~ its still a decent game.

Last I checked, you don't auto attack, you have to click your mouse to hit in either game, not to mention BnS's "targeting system" is just locking on when you look at a foe, you have lots of control in both games.

Makes me wonder what's better, a crosshair or letting me lock on by looking at my foe? I think I like the latter more, but I'll have to play both, IF either actually come out..

I think futilepath is talking more about the hits. To a degree, there is a mild amount of 'heat-seeking' properties to moves. Within a certain range, you can hit the target. For example, if the enemy is a bit left to you (but still in front of you), you'll still hit it. Probably involves the hit boxes. Also, say if you were to move at the beginning of a person casting a skill vs. moving at the middle-end of a skill. You can dodge the first one, but the other two you're still gonna get hit regardless if you're behind them at that point.

TERA is an action MMO, so what you see right in front of you is what you'll be able to hit. If they move out at any point during the skill, you won't hit them. In Blade & Soul, it gives you the leniency of auto-target / hit the enemy even if they've moved out of the way.

Well that's with a lot of MMOs you know?

Guild Wars had you in one area till you finished the main story quest to move on to the next, WoW moves you from one zone to the next and you rarely ever go back.

It's not something that should be scolded since BnS isn't doing anything LESS than other MMOs, but if they're gonna go this route, there should be more areas to choose from. Which we'll see with release, as they haven't made the full world yet obviously.

If the story of the game backtracked and at higher levels, some of the NPCs that gave you quests at the early stages of the game give you harder quests that let you explore this unknown-from-before part of the area that has really strong monsters would be really cool, cuz now you see high level and low level players all mixing together

I can't comment on how WoW was because I never played it. Guild Wars however, yes once you finished an area, you go to the next. However, the Guild Wars maps were large. There was a lot of areas to just wander off to, even if just to defog the map. Blade & Soul's maps don't have much to offer besides for questing. Maybe, just maybe I'm wrong and there were hidden away places, but I somehow doubt it. Even in Final Fantasy XIV (Yes, I'm gonna talk about FFXIV), with all the copy-pasta'd terrain, had a bunch of random caves and such. In FFXIV I had more "Ooh, I wonder what's here?" and went to go look and stopped what I was doing. With Blade & Soul, I saw nothing of interest besides failing to platform something due to invisible barriers. In Perfect World, old towns were still used for the world quest where you traveled to each area to talk to various NPCs as a daily. Blade & Soul almost shuns, to some degree, going back to old areas. Money will be difficult to gather for some people, easier for others. But those teleport scrolls cost about 4 silver each. Warping to some areas cost anywhere from 2-4. It's almost like "Do you really want to go back here?"

From what I've played, there are quests that bring you back to old areas (like the first town). However, it's just for some instanced changes/instanced area/turn in to some random NPC, then off to the next area. It worries me. Yes, they'll probably increase the level cap and such, but it was decently easy getting to 30 and higher, it makes the issue of end-game content (hell, even any time content) that much closer.

My one true worry about this game is content. If there's not enough places to explore and if everyone reaches max level too fast... This game will get boring for many people...

Reviving old topic! But hey, I wasn't around yet when the last post in here was posted.

And that all depends on how the end game is, i.e. how PvE (dungeons, raids, events) and PvP (arenas, tournaments, battlegrounds, guild vs guild battles) is are put together.

For now, I'm just looking forward to the leveling of my Assassin and Destroyer. Destroyer might be replaced by Blade Master, and I might try a Kung-Fu Master as a third character.

I will at least test out the Summoner and Gunslinger classes, but I'm more a fan of melee combat, either rogue/assassin types of melee classes, or warrior types with big weapons who can take a beating.

PS: Steparu is awesome ^^ Steparu's the reason I got interested in Blade and Soul in the first place ^.^
