Well that's with a lot of MMOs you know?
Guild Wars had you in one area till you finished the main story quest to move on to the next, WoW moves you from one zone to the next and you rarely ever go back.
It's not something that should be scolded since BnS isn't doing anything LESS than other MMOs, but if they're gonna go this route, there should be more areas to choose from. Which we'll see with release, as they haven't made the full world yet obviously.
If the story of the game backtracked and at higher levels, some of the NPCs that gave you quests at the early stages of the game give you harder quests that let you explore this unknown-from-before part of the area that has really strong monsters would be really cool, cuz now you see high level and low level players all mixing together
I can't comment on how WoW was because I never played it. Guild Wars however, yes once you finished an area, you go to the next. However, the Guild Wars maps were large. There was a lot of areas to just wander off to, even if just to defog the map. Blade & Soul's maps don't have much to offer besides for questing. Maybe, just maybe I'm wrong and there were hidden away places, but I somehow doubt it. Even in Final Fantasy XIV (Yes, I'm gonna talk about FFXIV), with all the copy-pasta'd terrain, had a bunch of random caves and such. In FFXIV I had more "Ooh, I wonder what's here?" and went to go look and stopped what I was doing. With Blade & Soul, I saw nothing of interest besides failing to platform something due to invisible barriers. In Perfect World, old towns were still used for the world quest where you traveled to each area to talk to various NPCs as a daily. Blade & Soul almost shuns, to some degree, going back to old areas. Money will be difficult to gather for some people, easier for others. But those teleport scrolls cost about 4 silver each. Warping to some areas cost anywhere from 2-4. It's almost like "Do you
really want to go back here?"
From what I've played, there are quests that bring you back to old areas (like the first town). However, it's just for some instanced changes/instanced area/turn in to some random NPC, then off to the next area. It worries me. Yes, they'll probably increase the level cap and such, but it was decently easy getting to 30 and higher, it makes the issue of end-game content (hell, even any time content) that much closer.
