The whole theme of the PvP system in Blade and Soul reminds me of the old times in Martial Arts where Kung Fu Masters of different styles travel the world in search of their worthy opponent to fight in 1 on 1 combat, emerge victorious or lose gracefully in defeat, then hang out with a drink and discuss about their adventures, philosophies, and combat styles like buddies from old times. Its the whole fighting and connection with your opponent on the gamer-to-gamer level that makes PvP so worthwhile. The search in the land of Blade & Soul, leveling up, joining factions, fighting against players of equal level in one-on-one to test theirs and your skills in PvP, then sit back and chat about the game and their adventures, knowing you have found an online gamer who can be your friend, ally, enemy, and rival.
We can all agree we have gone through this kind of experience at some point right?
But I do know one thing:
How to Play Video Games.

Most ppl want to pvp but on their time not when another forces them to do it. Let the system stay and and in only certain zones, Higher lvls killing lower lvls in their lowbie zone isn't cool at all.

If prevent me to use my favorite dobok (I mean appearance of outfit), while i wanna be flagged for PvP all the time.
Also PvP should not be consensual - it should be possible to PK everyone and everywhere.

On the KR server you can run around and stand around for -days- without getting attacked.
Even near the low level pvp camps you don't get attacked.
The only place i ever really experienced pvp is the high level pvp camp.
I wish NA and EU were like that too..
I'm not too keen on PvP tbh, especially on KR server with ~400 ping.
But i do like wearing the pvp outfit anyway, for quests and stuff.
Although i like the idea to toggle pvp via outfits, the mindset of ppl is what troubles me.

I don't understand why most NA/EU people apparently want to kill other people.

BLEH! That's what PVE servers in other games are for. I play an MMO for the competitive nature of the game. If I didn't want to compete, I'd play a single player RPG.

I'm not really familiar with PVP in B&S, however it looks amazing from the looks of PVP video's.
If you don't want to PVP then don't do it, no one is forcing you after all.

Some would argue that if they wanted to play a competitive game they would play a fighting game

Not really the same thing at all.
In WoW I was in a competitive raiding guild—It's PVE, but it's still competitive between guilds for server firsts and achievements. Can't really get that from a fighting game. Not to mention leveling doesn't have anything to do with it really as most competition comes at an end-game level.
My point was, if I'm going to play a game with thousands of other players, I'm going to show off what I've accomplished—by grinding someones ass to dust in PVP/PVE. If I'm not interested in showing off my accomplishments, then that's where PVE-servers or single-player RPGs come in. :P

Your definition of showing off is very different from mine...In a pve game or server I would show off by beating the hardest content not by beating people in pvp.
If I want to show off skill, and not gear as you're implying with your statements, I would play a fighting game.

Definitely different. Personally, I feel it's meaningless if you don't do anything with said achievements. :P

I didn't imply that. If I'm skilled (which is something you gain through time and effort), it's going to show when a player loses in a fight. Gear really only comes into play when you're not in the same playing field (e.g. Arena Rating in WoW). And if we really want to get technical, MOST fighting games don't truly involve skill IMO—there's all kinds of forums for dissecting character data and mapping out things like the frame rates of moves/combos to pick characters that have very obvious advantages. It's what really turns me off of the genre in general because if you truly want to be successful you'll have to conform to known standards and that's not really all that fun.
I'm actually pretty stoked to hear from a lot of the streamers and others playing KBnS that PVP feels pretty balanced; though I haven't heard anything since the introduction of LBM—but we'll see.

In many MMO's your race/class shows which faction you belong to. But here it does not. So how would somebody automatically know your faction?
This faction outfits that flag you for pvp idea is really good.
But I think there should be a large selection of faction outfits. Not just one per faction. Outfits should show your rank in the faction, and players should get faction benefits for wearing them at all times (risking to get PK'd). And so on. There should also be faction marks, or badges or something like that that you can put on non-faction outfits, and that would flag you for pvp too. So people could wear their favorite outfits with just minor changes for world pvp.
Also, I like pvp and played WoW on pvp server. And over the years I came to conclusion that forced world pvp is nothing good. If I'd be starting WoW from the beginning again I'd play on a pve server. World pvp forced on everyone ends in ganking gangs running around and PK'ing just to annoy people. And players on max levels murdering lower level players. It's just not fun. And I don't understand people who think one-shooting players 30 levels lower than you, or killing lone players with your 3 friends is fun in any way.
City raids or large battles over gathering nodes and valuable mob's respawn points were great. But that was like 5% of world pvp.
Would be nice if B&S had faction cities that can be raided by other factions though.

Insert own answer:
Will still be playing pvp, as the gameplay in B&S rocks. Its fun and such, but honestly, pvp doboks? Try again, NcSoft. PvP should have nothing to do with visuals or sh*t like that. Tbh it should just be that you can kill whoever is from any other faction than urself. Or anyone that isn't in your guild/party.

I'm not sure I understand the arguments on this page... The dobok system eliminates the need for a pvp/pve server system which I think is great. Sure it can be fun to randomly jump someone and beat them down when they aren't ready for it, but wth does that have to do with being skilled at pvp? If you choose to wear the dobok that means you are ready for the challenge and you actually want to have random fights/duels whenever.
I guess this system kinda sucks if you love smashing completely unaware noobs while stroking your PvPeen all day.
If you love the player vs player competition and want to prove yourself, I'm sure there are plenty of players who love PvP and are just waiting for the challenge.
Imo anyway.

Anyway, I've said it before and i'll say it again, the problem with the system is that it does not cater to all sides, and there are more then just PvE'ers and PvP'ers. In PvE'ers you have hardcore raiders, social dungeon runners, levelers etc. On the other end you have Arena goers, duelists, world pvpers etc. Tho some of them cross catagories, most have a preference to a specific catagory.
I personally am a duelist and a world pvper. I like to sharpen my skill, creativity and intuition with dueling, and put it to the test in the field against random people.
My personal tastes really mean that i am less of a player of opportunity engaging only when the chips r up, and more of a fighting enthusiast, willing and ready to pick a fight with anyone anytime anywhere.
The problem is the consensual aspect. You see, a good portion of the people who like the system, have stated they will step in when they feel like it, sometimes to defend, or sometimes just if they get in the mood. Well the problem is then, if everyone plays like that, NOBODY will flag. Your lone pvper who wants a fight ends up getting swamped whenever his/her dobok is equipped by these cowardly opportunist "pvpers". So then nobody wants to flag.
I believe the solution is to make top tier "stuff" require both PvP and PvE. One issue i've had with a lot of mmos is that in order to "PvP" at top tier, you need to first engage in gratuitous amounts of PvE grinding out weapons and gear from dungeons, while the PvE'ers who enjoyed it could take out their gear from dungeon running, and fight fully decked out in PvP when they felt like it.
Well, you would have to have zones that had open world PvE raid bosses, or hard to access dungeons, in open PvP zones, so while you do have to fight bosses, you have to be prepared for anyone wanting to pick a fight with you. This would force a player to be good at both PvE and PvP and the game would reward them as such. Think something like the Abyss in AION except... hopefully better executed.
