sure thing :) just 4 weeks or so and i'll have it all and hopefully after i get that cpu and hard drive it'll work like it should :)

Also about the sata cords. Will it do anything to my dvd burner since it's a sata 3 cable. I don't even know why honestly of why it needs a sata cable >.>

i need to go to bed i stay up too long >.> lol

SATA is a just a BUS interface, so if your dvd burner uses one then that's the one it uses to talk to your comp, there's a sata power connector too, but it's just a plug format, it's a different size and comes from the power supply. there are adapters to go from the 4 pin fan plugs to a SATA power plug, it's has the same power throughput.

i got to looking at my heatsink and i saw where to put it on my mother board but the screws are long as crap. If i screw them in all the way will they touch the backplate? I don't need it shorting out on me because of a small mistake as that Posted Image

uh, every heatsink i've worked with had the plastic push lo lock pins that secured it to the motherboard, cause i usually go with the stock heat sink.

Best i can tell you here is to read the instructions carefully, from the look of the parts it seems the mounting bracket comes in two parts and the reason for the long screws is to make the two parts of the bracket attach.

Since the topic here is pretty much about PC builds, will any of you guys help me on how I can upgrade my new one? :adore:

From what I can get, here are the specs. I'm not sure if that's everything, but it's what I found lol:

Two AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.50 GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Windows 7 (64-bit)
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

Again, I'm not sure if there is anything else :) But I do want to be able to run B&S on full settings when it comes out. Thanks guys~

I can't. I'm guessing since the PC was build by someone, I can't download programs without the administrator password, and I haven't been able to get the password because the person who built it is really busy. (Though I should get it by this week.)

Well if i knew your motherboard id be able to tell you what parts can be upgraded and be compatable. Do you know if you have ddr2 or ddr3 memory?

oh wow, that video card is from 2005. and so are the processors, first dual cores produced by AMD.

I am 90% certain that your motherboard does not support DDR3 memory since the spec did not exist back in 2005. I strongly suspect this comp will not run B&S well.

You said "new' comp, do you mean you only just acquired it? My instinct is to rebuild the whole thing based on what i am reading here, cause the processors era tells me that a new motherboard is needed and i doubt think any of the other parts plugged into the board will be compatible. boiled down it means new motherboard, new processor, new memory, new video card at least. Hard drive and disk drives might be fine, SATA was made back in 2003 so it might be compatible if those drives have SATA connections.

Lets not rush any decision though, once you get your comp's admin password run the speccy program for a more complete analysis of what's what. Past that the only other thing to check would be the Power Supply, but you will probably need to open the case to see the brand and wattage on it. Also, if you do open it up, does the power supply have any connectors that look like this?

Also, yes, yes i do read LFG comics, along with several dozen other web comics, im a web comic junkie XD

Lol yeah, I don't know what DDR3/4 is...

The PC is new in that I just acquired it. I kinda figured I would need to upgrade most of it, but I'm quite new about all this. But yeah, once I get the PW, I'll post of the specs here. Thanks guys!

No prob. DDR2/DDR3 amount to a system memory type or system memory generation the way we use it in conversation. the actual full acronym is DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory), the 2 and the 3 are short for Type 2 or Type 3.

The different types have different performance and different physical dimensions, a DDR3 memory stick will not fit into a DDR2 memory slot for example, which is intentional because doing so would probably damage one or the other due to voltage specifications. It's also why the age of the motherboard matters, as a motherboard generally only supports one type.

If its an am2+ socket you'll be in luck and it MIGHT be ddr3 compatible if it isnt though what do you want to do?

Hi all.

I haven't been streaming games lately but when BNS comes out in NA I plan on streaming it.

I created a twitch.tv page for our guild in case the leaders want it. Just so we could save the name :D :D
