There's an option that temporarily auto-adjusts your graphics settings when you encounter a large number of players in an area. It's checked by default and I'm sure you can disable it if you want.

Hmm ... I thought I had disabled that. I'll have to double-check for the next beta weekend.

Just a random question for anyone who's played KTera recently.

Did you guys notice even after they implemented the HD graphics patch in NA, the textures are still not quite as crisp as KTera. Just wondering if anyone else thought that or if its just me. I'd post a screencap comparison but screenshots lose a bit of quality when you take it so its kind of difficult to tell the difference (which is why I'm asking people who played KTera).

You must have really good eyes for textures, too.
I can tell something is off. Not sure if it's the AF filter being lower but something is off.

Good to know its not just my imagination. I was thinking about asking EME about it but I'm not sure if the official forums are the place to do so and it's hard to make my point when I can't really provide proof.

It's probably the AF settings.
I enabled and disabled a bunch of stuff in the engine file. I'll see if I can find the AF settings tonight.
Though quite honestly, the game looks great as it is. Better than a certain other UE3 game we know of, from a technical perspective.

Let us know if you figure out anything.

Here's a screencap of my Priest in KTera. Not sure if you'll be able to tell anything from that though.

Actually, now that I look at your pictures, something relating to lighting seems to be off with yours as well. Not just AF (Though I can see you have NO AF at all in those pictures for some reason).
Compare them to my pictures and you'll notice that mine are sharper and have more lighting.
Mine still don't have the same AF I used to have in K.TERA, though. I'll look into it anyway. I did find out why there is low FPS on some systems (You must reset ALL of your NVIDIA CP settings. Enable anything there and you will royally screw your FPS).

I have no idea what AF is...so...not sure what you're saying my problem is xD

Besides that, I don't think you can compare my screens to yours since I'm fairly certain you have a much better graphics card and are using a better resolution at that. I'm simply comparing what I see in KTera to what I see in NATera.

Wow nice screenshots both of you. Shinsetsu your K-TERA shots are definitely sharper. I too noticed that even with HD textures added something wasn't quite right.

Anisotropic filtering is now common in modern graphics hardware (and video driver software) and is enabled either by users through driver settings or by graphics applications and video games through programming interfaces.

So I'm guessing that since it looks better in KTera, it must be something that EME did with NATera to make it not as good....

You can really tell with the grass ... or maybe it's supposed to look pixelated? Let me see if I can find a picture. I have all my settings maxed. Other than the grass (and some trees), the game (to me) looks the same as it did for the 1st CBT ... but still quite beautiful.
:embarrassed:

In going through my pictures from CBT, I didn't find any good ones of pixealted grass (I threw them out I think). My apologies. BUT ... here's a shot from CBT1 that shows what I mean.

Posted Image
See the above? It still looks like that when you zoom in close. Is that normal? :surrender:

I'll tinker around with it on the next CBT. I am also curious about the multisample settings.

Hey Arec, I wanted to know how you felt about Archer gameplay. I'm slowly leveling one up, and was curious how you felt about it. I have a baraka archer and it's for someone reason the epitome of moe to me :embarrassed:

(I know most people won't understand that, but it's there for contemplation).

Right. Almost forgot about this.
Rules on modding (And being caught) means you can be penalized. While EME has yet to make a statement this bold, the TOS is literally the same.

9.4 The USER is not permitted to add elements to the online game software or change, delete or modify online game software elements into another form unless FROGSTER has given its explicit and written consent. This also means you can not edit the .ini files.
Disappointing approach.
Although the above is from FROGSTER, I suspect EME will have very similar, strict rules.

Follow up.

Hello,

Just for the sake of clarification, you won't get banned for changing a line in a .ini file. However, you must understand that there is a reason why we put this warning and why those options are not included within the game itself: as stated in the sticky, it can corrupt your game client and generate additional bugs.

We do not wish to "waste time" and turn this into a witch hunt. Our support and QA team already have their hands full. However, it is the wish of the developement studio to prevent user-made modification of the game client and this is why the rules have been clearly stated in the ToS which you have to accept when installing the game.

Regards,
Anna

EXTREMELY detailed and long list of .ini line customization.
