Let us begin by saying this article is full of spoilers. So if any of you are looking to go into the 2011-2012 release spoiler free, I suggest you stop reading now! So this may seem familiar to some of you, we've covered the playable demo many times before in previous threads. However, unlike the other threads this one covers the basic storyline behind the demo. This article is quite lengthy but worth the read, trust us!
Thank Ruliweb for the original article and thank Yuan for translating this for us.
Offtopic - We would like to apologize for the slow news these past couple weeks, NCsoft/Team Bloodlust hasn't really given us anything since their appearance at the G-Star 2010 convention. Slow news is to be expected though, they deserve a break after everything they've given us during G-Star, not to mention it is the holidays after all! Anyway, back on topic! Let us continue.
A man on a boat heads for the mountain peak as fire and destruction was visible from afar. This mountain peak is the home of the Hong-Moon.
As he was making his way over to the mountains on his boat, he sees a pillar of light. He suddenly has a bad feeling about the recent turn of events.
A character slowly floats to the surface, later known to be you, the main character.
"Is this the uniform of our Hong-Moon School?"
As the man takes you out of the water, he immediately recognizes the uniform. The man seems to be a part of the school or closely related to it, as he is braving the storm to get to the Hong-Moon School and immediately recognizes the uniform.
He turns the boat and heads for the Bamboo village. You don't wake up but you are saved thanks to this stranger.
(Caption says: Chapter 1: Morning in the Mountain Peaks.)
The game starts off with a flashback scene. You hear a sweet voice of a girl, and as you rub your eyes and wake up you meet a beautiful lady named Jin-Young. (The young lady is a third School Sister. Schools all refer to their fellow students as Brothers and Sisters. Also they are all numbered first, second and third, etc. This is usually decided by who entered the school earliest.)
Later, after waking up the two other School brothers from their sleep they all set out to prepare breakfast.
You start preparing the breakfast in supervision of the third School Sister, the fourth will ready the wood needed for fire, and the fifth will be in charge of the pot and the fire. When the fourth chops the wood, you take the chopped wood to the fifth so he can make the fire. It is a very military like system and you are at the very bottom.
After the chores are finished, you go and meet the Grand School Brother. What gives them the Grand title? It is acquired because he is the first student to study under the Master. Unlike your other School brothers and Sisters, your Grand School Brother is a very big and tough looking. As he gets ready for the morning assembly, he orders you to go find the slacker second School Brother.
He teaches you the place where second usually goes to waste his time, and he also teaches you how to Qing Gong dash and tells you to go find him. You find the second brother sending a bird flying from his hand.
*Some of you might remember from the World Lore of B&S; A certain someone receives a message from a messenger bird about someone meddling with the Master's medicine.*
The third says to look somewhere as she might have saw something and the second just acts a fool with his eyes closed. Later the third just says she must have seen nothing.
The second then teaches you how to glide.
*It is possible that that hand is one of the Higher beings from above, usually not talked about much in Eastern Fantasy but as you might have read in the World Lore, they bestowed a prophet a long time ago to drive away the Corrupt Chi.
The morning assembly starts and the Master Hong Suk-Geun is there as well. Later the Master calls upon you to follow him and you go with him to his room.
Master tells you that you are now officially part of the Hong-Moon School and tells you to go read a Martial Arts book and bestows a weapon upon you. You are now a 6th brother or sister of the school.
Everyone congratulates you on your joining. The visible are the only members of the School.
First School Brother Young-Mook -> Gon / Destroyer
Second School Brother Moo-Sung -> Jin / Kung-Fu Master
Third School Sister Jin-Young -> Jin / Kung-Fu Master
Fourth School Brother Gil-Hong -> Jin / ??? (Possibly a Kung-Fu Master)
Fifth School Brother Hwa-Joong -> Lyn / Blade Master (He only had a glimpse in the clip, so not too sure.)
So, there are no Force Masters other than the Master but Hong-Moon School can teach any type of martial arts. Of course it seems like most of them are Kung-Fu Masters. (Master can also be any type of class.)
(Caption says : Cave of Trials)
After you finish your training with the wooden dummies, you enter the Cave of Trials to make your joining official. When you enter, you practice your skills on the Wooden dummy and suddenly a masked stranger will appear.
He gets angry after you attack him a few times and he beats you senseless. Later on you find out that the masked stranger was the second School brother Moo-Sung and he teaches you how to Chi Meditate.
Moo-Sung leaves the cave first and later when you exit you see Second and the Fifth fighting a summoned shost type monster. After you walk past them you will find the Fourth is already dead.
Now you know why we could never figure out what his class was.
Yuran, she could have been the prettiest villain of them all, but because of Jin Suh-Yeon she is moved to second. Her weapon of choice is Dual wielding daggers and probably an assassin by class.
The Third is also down, currently Yuran has killed two.
The First is also taken out by Guh-Guh-Boong. Guh-Guh-Boong takes the first in his hand and throws him even before he is knocked out. A clear skill difference.
"Jin Suh-Yeon...You were alive..."
The Master is fighting with Jin Suh-Yeon. She mentions about how she almost died in the past so maybe these two had some kind of connection in the past.
A mystery staff, it hides a secret. Son, I am excite!
Excite my ass, Master is down too? Why is that tail so damn thick?
The three villains. Jin Suh-Yeon is currently not holding any blade.
Backside of the traitor. He goes on about how the Master never gave him the true Martial Arts of the Hong-Moon and he whines and complains a bit. Then the Master gets angry.
The traitor then gets all scared from the Master's anger. The Master then just sends the staff towards the ground.
This is just speculation but it is possible that from the get go the Lyn race had a transformation in mind. Or this could be the so called "True Martial Arts of the Hong-Moon." Of course you can say this is the power of the Gwi-Chun Sword, which Jin Suh-Yeon is after. However, the Master never fights with the sword after he is transformed so it is a high possibility that this is the true power of the Hong-Moon Martial Arts.
The traitor gets blown away by the explosion of Chi energy from the Master.
Pillar of Light, confirming the end of the Transformation.
The traitor gets knocked down by the gust of wind generated by Chi.
The three villains, Guh-Guh-Boong and Yuran try to witstand the gust, but Jin Suh-Yeon simply stands there unwavering. This shows the great chi built within Jin Suh-Yeon, possibly equal to the Master.
True power of the Hong-Moon Martial Arts are unleashed.
He sends out a Palm Gust with his Chi.
Three villains dodge the Palm Gust but the Mountain Peak almost shatters from it. The destructive power is out of this world!
Jin Suh-Yeon tries to attack from behind but the Master simply grabs her and throws her towards the ground. He is clearly stronger than his former Lyn self.
This time the Master readies a Palm Gust with two hands, twice the power!
Jin Suh-Yeon takes you as a hostage to stop the Master.
The Master reverts back to his original form. He looks so weak compared to his transformed body.
Jin Suh-Yeon finally takes the Gwi-Chun Sword in her hands. She has been trying to obtain this sword for a long time. The Gwi-Chun Sword seems to be a key for something, as it doesn't look like it contains massive power like some type of a Legendary sword.
Nothing but ashes and clothes left of the Master. Behold the destructive power of the Corrupt Chi.
You try and deliver a blow towards the villains.
As cold hearted as she looks, Jin Suh-Yeon slashes you with no remorse.
You fall into the ocean after you get slashed by the sword, but the mysterious higher being from before comes and rescues you. It asks you to stop Jin Suh-Yeon, there must be a reason why the higher being can't do it themselves.
(Chapter 1 : Saved)
Nam So-Yoo wakes you up, similar from before with your third School Sister.
This man tells you that the village is in trouble and asks for your help, asking you to kill the pirates that invaded the Bamboo village.
You reach the Shores of the Bamboo Village to help.
You help the injured, but that floating body seems to be a lost cause.
(Chapter 2 : Savior)
The doctor of the Bamboo Village, although he looks more fitting to be a lawyer. Anyways, he tells you that the man who saved you was Do Chun-Poong.
Do Chun-Poong was a former student of the Hong-Moon School but later on decided to join the Bamboo Village militia. Later Do Chun-Poong asks you to find his son.
(Chapter 3 : Militia Captain's Son)
This man tells you that his younger brother will know where the Militia Captain's son will be and tells you where his younger brother Go-Bong is. Let's clear through the pirates at the beaches and find Go-Bong.
You find Go-Bong but you find Pirates guarding the nearby area.
Go-Bong tells you the Militia Captain's son is also being held hostage. He says he knows a plan to get rid of the Pirates and to rescue the Militia Captain's son. He first asks you to kill the Pirates guarding the nearby area.
(Do Dan-Ha : W-What? Who are you? Hm? You are the one Father rescued!)
After you open the cell door you find Do Chun-Poong's son.
This is Do Dan-Ha.
Let's light the cannon, although from the screenshot it looks like you are about to cut the fuse to the Cannon.
It's a hit, with that you sink one of your enemies ships.
Later they get scared and flee from the area. The reason why they lost is simple, they leveled you up while they were the same level!

It isn't just like "popping-up" into something, it's more like you experience
the reason of your journey. It's isn't just a journey because you're the
"chosen-one", it has also a personal aspect: Revenge~
Also, it's interesting there are up to 7 students in that Hong-Moon School
(that old dude included). Seems very hard to get in.

Yuran is the prettiest villain to me
Thanks Yuan for translation. Very exciting storyline, can't wait to play it all....
By the way , the design of Gwi-Chun Sword is so pretty too.

Great story! This game could rival any high quality rpg, forget MMO, this game is already shaping out to be better than any story driven rpg. Final Fantasy what? This is looking better!
Thanks for the enlightenment Yuan and Revast!

Yeah I really like that too. Most MMOs throw you into a vague story that has already "started?" Here it seems you will actually experience the story yourself.

Yuran...bleh don't like her much. But I can't argue, her design is very well done

i actually had to think for a bit before realizing that the "school brother/sister" actually was translated from Shi Xiong/ Shi Jie
which is the typical term for disciples under the same master or dojo.
and since there really isn't a term for that in english i guess that is close enough, the closest one i can think of would be Seniors and juniors
and Grand School Brother isn't really a title, it is just a translation issue as it is actually "Big brother" or "oldest brother" just in terms of seniority in the dojo, he is the first to be a pupil under the master and usually has got nothing to do with age.
seniority has to do with time entered into the dojo and not age

Although the wind may appear soft and inviting, it has the potential to be as thin and sharp as a blade.
