Playable Races Available for This Class
Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

This class specializes in sword combat to deliver a variety of attacks. Using their sword they utilize skills like the "Batto Jutsu" technique to attack or defend against their enemies. Blade Masters are quite good at parrying their enemies blows, leaving them vulnerable to effective counter attacks. They don't always rely on close combat to bring their enemies down, they can use a flying sword technique that will harm their enemies from afar.

The Blade Master is a 'Warrior' class but instead of face tanking like Destroyers, Blade Masters avoid damage by evading or parrying enemy attacks. The Blade Master then responds by attacking his opponents weak points. Blade Masters use the Sword Chi to block or evade melee attacks, or they can also go on the offensive and thrust their opponents with great force.

The difficulty level of the Blade Master is about medium, the control itself is not too hard but timing the Evade or Parry skills could be a bit challenging at times. This class will definitely take some time to master.

Blade Masters use Chi Sword to call forth their abilities. A point is added to the Blade Masters Sword Chi bar every time a combo or special move is used. Depending on how difficult the combo is or how hard the ability hits the more Sword Chi points are consumed. Here's an image of what their status bars (HP/SC/Qing Gong) will look like:

Blade Master Skills
This skill list will be updated as we continue to get more information! We are still looking for others as well as specific details on each skill, details such as power cost and cool down time, assuming they even have cool downs. As always, stay tuned!

Posted Image
A skill where you deflect your enemy's attack with your sword. If you successfully Parry, your target will be groggy for 3 seconds and won't be able to attack. This skill will enable the Thrust and Kick skills.

Posted Image
You kick your enemy with great force knocking them back. This skill is best used after a successful Parry. You can use Sword Gust on the knocked back enemy to cause them to become unconscious, which will allow you to hit them a bit more. You can also Charge your enemy after using this ability, stunning them for a short moment.

Posted Image
You charge towards you enemy and thrust them. This skill is useful to close a distance between a far away opponent. After you charge, the enemy becomes stunned for a short moment. During the stun if you initiate a Lower slash skill the enemy will be knocked down, which will enable the Stomp and Stab skill.

Posted Image
You immediately evade an enemy's attack. With this skill you can hit the enemy from their weak point. After a successful evade you can use Rising Kick or Kick to initiate a different combo, it is hard to time the evade properly.

Recommended Blade Master Combo
Block -> Kick -> Thrust -> Charge -> Lower Slash -> Stomp -> Stab

This is the basic combo for a Blade Master. You Parry an attack and Kick or Thrust as a follow up. Afterward you Charge at the knocked back enemy, following up with a Lower Slash and finishing it off with a Stomp or Stab.

[Blade Master Tip] Analyze Your Enemy While Fighting.
The Blade Master, compared to other melee characters doesn't have grappling or limb twisting types of skills. Instead they evade an attack and attack the exposed weak spot. Also they have a quick charge that lets them quickly close a far distance between the Blade Master and their enemy. So use it wisely! Instead of doing a mindless slashing attack, it is good to plan your strategy depending on your enemy and killing them. This game requires a little more thought and effort than mindless button mashing.

Media Center
Get to know this class through various screenshots and videos! This section will be constantly updated as time passes through G-Star 2010, so stay tuned! If you spot a screenshot or video that wasn't posted here, let us know here! They must be Blade Master related of course.

Sounds like Fencing and Kendo! Awesome.

It's starting to seem like the BM class is a counter/reactionary class rather than "get in your face and begin mega damage sequence"...

It's strangely more calculating than I though. More like hitting and running (evade) or hit them, and let them counter, block counter, then counter attack xD

Unless there's other combos besides starting with a "block/parry"

Yeah, I mean think about it from a real life perspective. Rarely would you charge and try to combo your opponent with a sword. A sword is more about strategy, evading and exposing the weaknesses.

So yeah, they really did a great job at understanding and implementing this class.

While I'm not the biggest fan of swords I do respect and understand how this class will kick ass in B&S. Solid.

so if you time your parry/evade skills when the enemy attacks you will be successful? if that is true then i think BnS have found a perfect balance between lock-on targeting and active combat.

this is great stuff, hoping to see a review on force master's soon. thx revy

This class is definitely becoming a favourite for me. Their style and flare has really captivated my interest. At this point, the only way I'd end up pulling away from Blade Master is if they introduce Summoner and it turns out to just be beyond amazing. :dreaming:

Yes that is so, you must time it right. Then you are able to follow that up with your own combos.

Yeah, it looks that way for now

I actually don't mind the Gons not liking/wanting to use those tiny swords
In fact I'm almost certain Destroyers will be able to use Long Swords, like these:

It's currently unknown. As of right now, the only thing they can use are axes.

Lyn also have assassin
If you say Attached Image: Lyn_ass.jpg This is Lyn BM in G-star 2009 trailer. I would like to say that you are wrong.
That Lyn assassin. Just look closely to action stand and compare to this 2 screenshot from G-star 2010 trailer on assassin part.
Attached Image: Jin_ass.jpgAttached Image: Jin_ass2.jpg

This make me pretty sure Lyn have FM Summoner Assassin as their class.

So instead of Lyn destroyer (I think destroyer is Gon-only class). We got Lyn assassin kick Gon to the air and do a back-spin drop. :haha:

Attached Image: Jin_ass3.jpg
And this move by Lyn should be so kickass.

Where I still think that first lyn screenshot from 2009 is a BM, I have no doubt Lyn will get an Assassin role in their arsenal.
Who else would be the best assassin? Lyn get auto cloaking effect by just walking around the bushes.

Well...currently the options for Lyn in the demo for GStar was limited to only Force Master and Blade Master. So we cant be too sure as to whether or not they'll have the Assassin class or not...

As for the 2 pictures you compared....I'm not so sure, actually. Yes, the stance is somewhat similar, but the Jin Assassin is in the middle of attacking someone, while the Lyn in the 2009 Trailer picture was, from my view, doing the characteristic pose of a blade master. So it could go both ways, I guess.

Here's a slightly different angle of the same Lyn:
Attached Image: Lyn-2009.png

And here's a Blade Master doing the same pose after killing a Gon KFM:
Attached Image: Jin-2010.png

They seem to pose in the same manner. Yes, the Blade master was also attacking, but was standing still when this shot was taken. (As opposed to the Assassin in the middle of landing a move on someone).

I do agree though! Lyn Assassins would be quite amusing.

Edit: Whoops, Yuan got there faster than i did.

Which do you think is worse? Having a signature that you never, ever change? Or having none at all?

the action stand is way different from the assassin. Assassins stance is more of a ready to grab the dagger, the Blade masters is more of ready slash. Blade master has simular characteristics to a samurai if i might add. Assassins stance is more of a... firm stance on the ground. Blade masters stance is a firm stance rready to move forward. Im not sure completely but id see lyns get assassins too.. the assassin is sneeky and mischievous and isnt that in the lyn lore as well? Also if lyn are capable of using blades why not a dagger using class as well?
