In the west, lots of people that played WoW were into pvp, they didn't care about pve or any of the lore, their goal was to get to max level. E-sports has been huge during the past few years with sites like IPL (IGN Pro League) and others launching. It's a huge business that features a lot of money from sponsors and what not

I go back to a point I made awhile ago and people here didn't see the importance of class damage output being something to localize correctly, maybe because you aren't into pvp but class damage output is HUGE. People WILL stop playing the game if it's not done correctly. Diablo 3 could've been another success story in PRO gaming but i think it was canceled.

There's not many titles out in E-sports land besides League of Legends, Starcraft and whatever else. From what I saw Blade and Soul has the makings of a contender in competitive E-sports , they just need to get the damage output done correctly, add leagues and doboks for both casual and competitive players and it would also have a reward system but the casual and competitive would be split.

This idea will broaden the game, not everyone is into PVP but it's a huge market here that will have both PVE and PVP players enjoying the game.

This needs to be done right, it can be big

I personally don't really see Esports in the future of BnS. Yeah, a good PVP system would make this more accessible, but Esports? Not really.

Well, you don't really see Esport stuff for anything but strategy games like League and Starcraft, and then FPSs. Stuff that lasts longer than the usual MMORPG PVP match.

I would love to see more emphasis on PvP, it is one of the primary reason why I am getting this game. Capture the flag, 5v5 deathmatche, king of the hill, and castle and tower sieges in open world.

I know about that one, but I didn't really give it as an example because of the whole extreme stigma against F2P here. Plus it's a 2D sidescroller that's more along the lines of a fighting game than BnS is, to be honest, and it's pretty unbalanced :/'' I don't really see DFO's PVP as particularly great.

Just pointing out there were more things around, as well as the old Ragnarok Championships. If a game is popular enough imo, it can possibly make it =).

I do not like high DPS in PvP. I do like damn long PvP. I do want good PvP system. But e-sport? Sorry, but e-sport is not something what I expect from MMORPG.

sign :)

The only mmorpg game that I know, in which e-sport worked fine was Ragnarok Online.
But it worked only fine because of the aerial perspective.

MMO-RPGs today and E-sport doesn't suit each other and isn't possible in my opinion.
But a GOOD PvP system should be possible

In order for a game to be a successful E-sports game, it needs to be build as such from the very beginning, which Blade and Soul is not.

NCsoft would have to add a lot more pvp content and balance sweeps before Blade and Soul would even stand a chance. Of course this would most likely come at the cost of PvE focused content, and therefore you'd probably upset the majority of the player base. Not to mention all the other problems that come from mmorpg e-sport balancing, like class changes from PvE to PvP adversely effecting one another, and PvE to PvP gear crossovers, ect.

I didn't mention Ragnarok as being an E-sports title here. As far as I can see the people against it don't have any solid reasons against it, just personal ones that aren't important in the big picture

I don't care what they do with the PvP, I'm a PvE person.
as long as they don't sac the PvE for PvP or combine the PvE with PvP (like adding forced entry Free PK areas or combining the story with PvP quest or some bull sh*t like that), I'm all good.

I'd love to see Blade and Soul make it into the competitive scene. The game is graphically breath taking and speaking from the perspective of someone who has yet to play, the pvp seems exciting and attractive. I recently starting to follow the fighting game genre (Super Street Fighter, Tekken, etc.) and if there is a market for those platforms I can't see a reason why BnS would be any different. Whether or not such an idea can take hold in NA/EU depends on the game's popularity and mechanics.

Pretty much like Seli said, aslong they don't hurt the pve part of the game they can add whatever they want to the pvp part.

I think it can, with MMOs becoming more f2p lately something else needs to help the game generate attention and income. A diverse audience is the key

PvP contests? Likely.
E-Sport? BWAHAAHHAHAHAHAH No.

Blade and Soul is more PvE than PvP. E-sports generally stem from PvP.

Besides Arena there are no PK areas?

They were talking about not wanting one added to cater to PVP.
