And you can be sure, any new class added to the game will be insane OP. Same ppl complains about LBM, there will be complains about new class. Because devs always make new classes the most OP for encourage players to lvl them (subscription time time + other crap from item shop).

Every new class is OP at the beginning, becuse it's new. Ppl need to learn it's abilities, moves. :bowling:
Think up strategies to counter it. So there will be always complains the "new" class is OP and stuff. :doubt:

And Dev.s don't make 1 class overpowering to the others, they are all balanced and based on how you play it. :smooth:
Not every fight is the same you know.

And I agree, there is a killer combo of abilities to every class. :beated: But if the opponent knows it and breaks it, he/she can turn the tide against that "OP" class. :brick:

Yes....I like using emotes. :D

Rly naive... Developers make some classes OP for income.

New claasses in games always are OP because it means players will make them and pay subscriptions. Usually they get naerf 3-4 months after. But for 3-4 months players like lemmings make this class because: it is new and it is OP - damn easy win button.

Range DPS are OP because that is standrad in MMO. Every noob/casual what want easy to win class going to take any kind of range DPS. Developers do not even hide this fact - if any game have dificult lvl of characters, range DPS is always counted as easier possible. But easier class means also most OP in PvP. Easy to play = easy to win.

Gunslinger! And I fail to see where this has been overdone in MMOs.

City of Heroes
Champions Online
DC Universe Online
Coming Soon to Aion

What other MMO has a gunslinger in the sense of how the majority of players would likely want to see a gunslinger play out?

TOR counts, if you just go with the idea that, yes, they do have dual wielding blasters.

Maybe TSW, but I don't know that one well at all.

I'm not even going to expand on the fact that you are making sweeping generalizations about all mmos ever made, Not all ranged DPS are overpowered just like how not all new classes are equally overpowered. That's flawed logic you have, they are just unbalanced at first because they are putting a new class in the game with entirely new skills. It sounds like you have had some bad experiences but don't bring your bias against ranged classes into this thread please, 90% of people do want to see more ranged classes for variety, appeal, and playstyle. Don't be so ignorant of others.

I think you got them all, that's a good list. Still, you have to consider the time period, theme, and setting of the game, it is supposed to have a wuxia hero theme and I don't remember any wuxia novel or movie where everyone went around shooting at each other or where the hero used guns. That's one of the problems I have against them being in Blade and Soul but whatever I still think the Gunslinger would be cool. Now that you mention it the Gunslinger class may seem too "Aionish", could TBL get in trouble by NCsoft for making the exact same class?

I think Spirits of Vengeance made a very compelling case for Kun Archers in the OP, and as I cannot come up with any interesting ideas I think that will have my vote. ^_^

I love the idea of a sniper-esque Kun hiding out in a tree while she stalks her prey. :misdoubt:
but I also guess super quick combat with pistols could be interesting...

I'm pretty sure TBL is a subsidiary of NCSoft, so I don't think they could get in trouble. DFO also has gunners, although you can't really take any sort of PVP balance ideas from that game. It's more focused on balancing towards PVE and gunners are pretty cheap in PVP. Neople's a mediocre developing subsidiary at best 6-6a

Alright, good to know. :feel_good:
Balancing would be the most difficult as always.

I'll say this, even though I'm not 100% for or against a Physical Ranged DPS, they are usually the most balanced. In other MMO's I have played burst melee and casters have had the most issues with balance. If NCSoft were to implement a ranged class, I am sure it would be fairly balanced.

A gunslinger. I think it fits well with the bns world.
I can't really imagine an archer, I don't think that style fits Asia, bows are pretty western things :/
A glaive would be cool too.
And if I were to add 'other' maybe someone that uses whips xD I always wanted some mmo that had that idea, but I don't think there are any mmos with that. Idk if it fits with bns's style though.

Bows were used widely in Asia as well. For instance, the Mongols. There are also Japanese traditions involding archery. Glaives are european, so if archery doesn't fit then Glaives specifically most certainly do not :/''

Quick edit: Yes, there are similar asian polearms to the Glaive, I know that. Glaives specifically are European, though.

Gunslinger has to be added some day. They know they teased us with this class from the beginning, they're going to have to add it some day.

Yes! Thank you. Did you know you're one of my favorite people here?

And yeah that right there is the Japanese version of a Glaive, basically. Dunno if there's a similar Korean polearm? Probably is. I wouldn't exactly classify polearms as ranged though, personally. They're more mid-ranged melee than an actual ranged weapon.

:embarrassed: I do my best.

Yes the Korean one has a similar look but different name.
But B&S is meant to be full of Japanese, Mongolian, Chinese, Korean and Cambodian lore/etc

What type of ranged class would you like to see?

OK, let me see...

An Archer type class?
No, the big problem with the Archers is that they are to much ranged.

I don't know how an archer will be in a fast combat style of the B&S. Even using dodges to avoid close combat, when the combat becomes to much close they will have to switch their weapons to have any chance. This is too boring and common for a fast fantasy-martial-anime style Blade & Soul.

A Glaive Master?

Glaives are interesting weapons, but this weapon are usually a secondary weapon for assassins and ninjas and we already hava a class like this and their throw hability will be very similar to the sword throw of the BMs.

Other?
Usually this will be an good Idea. But with launch of the last 2 class (Lyn BM and The Cat Summoner) I'm afraid with the innovations ideas of the team Blood Lust may become another too strange thing.

None?
No, there are too many close combat classes in this game. Put more will become just more of the same. For me, it's time to put some thing different.

A Gunslinger type class?

Until now, this is the best class idea for a new ranged class. Because the Gun figther style can be fast, versatile for this kind of game and I want to see a gunner avoiding attacks, do a parry with their guns and see the Destroyers using their shield to ricochet their bullets, the assasins dodging their attack and blade/kung fu masters parring it with their weapons.

Maybe a fight like this:

Ok i'm clearly missing something here, how in the world can a polearm be a secondary weapon for a ninja or assassin? Throw ability? Huh???
