Is there such a thing as a mature community in mmos?

It's simply human nature, that anonymity brings out the worst in us. However as some people say, the anonymous you is the real you.

especially them old grindy mmo's are a good example for this.
alot of old people with wife and kids play those games. and you can often sense their maturity. BUT ofcourse there are exceptions and there will also be those little brats killstealing you :)
its just that nowadays kids start to play on the computer at an earlier age as before which gets more immaturity on the net.

So when I point out to members of a MMO forum community they have entitlement issues, and I'm considered a troll for doing it, am I troll? :o

I guess that depends on what you consider trolling. Everything is individual perspective.
I think it's safe to say though, that for good or worse, everyone in some way acts different online than they do in real life. Anonymity provides lack of consequence, which in turn allows people to act in ways they never would in real life, where what you say and do are subject to real consequences.
People say things online they would never say to anyone face. People do things online they would never do to anyone at work or school. Why? Because they can without any kind of repercussion, like getting punched in the face, or thrown in jail for sexual harassment or stealing.
And this is why the internet will never be mature.

There's always going to be people younger than you, who may visit the same sites as you.
There's always going to be people who like to make fun of other users.
There's always going to be mods who act like they're tired of being mods.
There's always going to be people who never read the faq of a site, until the point where many users pounce on them until they finally skim it.
If you're looking for maturity in a sense that it will make you feel at home, or that it's the perfect and idle forum, then i'm pretty sure that there is nothing like that. They're may be different forms of it, be it mods who ban everyone for anything, but I don't think there's one out there.
Personally, I feel it'd be boring if most mmo forums were mature.

I make user bars in case you ain't know so...

If you'd like maturity go to work or school there is no such thing as a mature COMMUNITY online there will always be immaturity on the internet or one immature troller or a child who needs help in a dungeon who always wants your help.

Posted in guild descriptions, they mean about as much as political buzzwords to me cause it can range from "we don't use foul language or say anything negative to each other here" to "we talk about sex a lot here, best be ready to read it".
The internet has too wide a variety of people on it to generalize it to mature or immature and hold any solid meaning. Hell, to some people (despite the day and age) playing video games makes you immature by definition cause "video games are for kids".

Really? One of the major reasons I quit Tera was because of that insufferably annoying area chat wherever I went. World chat wasn't any better as far as I remember.
Have you been playing it recently? Did it get more tolerable? Because I was wondering if it's worth coming back to.
