From how people here are talking, Blade & Soul isn't much better in too many ways than Tera.

Meaning that there's no way it will keep a pay to play model for long.

They'd have to give subscription players some sort of benefit, which would make people instantly scream Pay to Win. I personally don't mind stuff like that, but if people think being able to sell cash shop items in-game is P2W then this would definitely seem that way to them.

They could add cosmetic features

I'd much rather b2p they will get WAY more people buying the game if it were b2p. If it were p2p people such as myself wouldn't even look at the game twice. B2p is a good plan in my opinion with a good cash shop with fashion styles (not gear im tired of mmo's with gear in item malls) B2p is for me im hoping for b2p.

Definitely hope they would be going with B2P, look how well GW2 is doing, or maybe not, don't look at anything but just think, it would be the ideal way to make it B2P rather than P2P, they would still earn.

Anything but B2P+P2P! Please! :sob: :adore: :joss_stick:
I prefer B2P like Guild Wars 2 or P2P monthly without buying the box right off for ~$50.

B&S is nothing like Tera. Compare Tera's and B&S's standings in Korea.

Hmm I'm wondering but if they could go from P2P to B2P instead of P2P to F2P.
But then again that probably won't be feasible.

To be honest I am still completely disgusted that games you have to shell out $15 a month still have a cash shop.
Meaning that $15 a month you're digging out of your pocket it being used to pay people that make things to sell to you.
Honestly if P2P still had no cash shops I wouldn't mind them as much but they all do and it's freaking disgusting.
I don't care if it's cosmetics or whatever, B2P and F2P have excuses for a cash shop. P2P doesn't because we're feeding them $15 every month.
Make bloody quests for these items instead of trying to shell more money out of us.
Just disgusting.

Isn't that exactly what The Secret World did though? I thought they did fine? :o

I highly doubt it will be F2P...

But i don't mind it being B2P or P2P, just not both. I think it will be P2P mostly because the Korean version is. But you never really know, it's all up the company.

I have never heard of The Secret World ever. And I hear about a lot of MMOs. Don't think it was doing too well if it wasn't well-known.

I dont mind either tbh, but i would likely choose P2P for the simple fact it destroys goldspammers. With aion i noticed in the early days they were fewer, they kept their risk as minimal as possible but still got banned which means they had to fork out another 50-60 bucks to buy the game and then pay another 15 per month, eventually they gave up all together coz they were losing money and that made me soooo happy

Look at aion now that its FTP....its swarming with goldspammers, everyday you log in, you have to block a dozen or so,it really sux now.

I see your point but I've found I've actually spent less on a P2P cash shop than I have B2P, there's a lot less content to buy and usually the content of a P2P cash shop is more centered around character customization and cosmetics rather than a pack of health potions or 25 revive scrolls

Honestly I wouldn't mind either, it's just my own opinion that P2P would be better. As long as it isn't F2P (which I highly doubt it will ever be). Those F2P shops are purely B2W, if you try to avoid spending any cash it just becomes unenjoyable

Subscriptions do not stop gold bots. They will pay a subscription if they are getting profits. Like in WoW where their gold bots could afford banner ads on sites to advertise. The only thing that stops gold bots is a company willing to police them and a player base that doesn't buy gold. Both, preferrably. An alternative such as a reliable way of selling cash shop currency helps as well.

You must've played some horrible games, then. I've played plenty where you didn't have to spend money to enjoy it, or succeed.

Well with aion it did....and i guess it worked, coz we almost never got any for nearly 3 years and i say "almost" coz on rare occasions, youl get a whisper.Maybe it wasnt just subs as you say or reckon, but the fact of the matter remains,on P2P, they died. :smooth:

Having played games with all 3 payment methods, I actually find that you end up spending pretty much the same amount no matter which route you take.

Whether or not you spend 15$ for a monthly subscription fee for a P2P game or 15$ for a new character slot and new map or zone in a F2P/B2P game, in the end you you still spent 15$, and will do it again next month.
