Blade & Soul G-Star 2010 Trailer
We've received a lot of treats from the development team during Blade & Soul's G-Star 2010 premier unveiling. The premier began with a short greeting from the development team followed by a live demo and an explanation of the game's user interface. Let's start things off here with Blade & Soul's official G-Star 2010 trailer! The trailer reveals the 5th playable class, the Assassin! Take a look!


Jae-Hyun Bae, the executive director said "Ever since the announcement of Blade & Soul, we've held on to our fans with only two clips of Blade & Soul. Despite this, many people remained excited for our upcoming game and for that I am very grateful, and very apologetic at the same time. To make it up to you, the fans, we've got gameplay clips and an actual play through of the game."

Blade & Soul Demo Preview
The demo of Blade & Soul's solo play showed exactly how all the actions in the trailer were pulled off. Many wondered if the actions shown in the trailers were fake, or if the developers were just over-exaggerating the games beauty, showing us false gameplay. This wasn't the case apparently. From what we gathered from the demo, everyone could see that Blade & Soul is just that spectacular. The gameplay was actually as smooth as it seemed in the trailers.

The demo was played by the lead designer; Seung-Gi Hwang, Lead label designer Bum-Ryul Lee, and art director Hyung-Tae Kim. The explanation of the demonstration was done by system designer Sung-Jin Hwang. They all played a level 30 character in a level appropriate zone.


Blade & Soul's perk is the new targeting system. The targeting changes depending on where the character is facing, meaning that the movement of a character is already part of the strategy. All actions are also dependent on player decisions. These two aspects put together make for some very exciting gameplay.

Sung-Jin Kang said "The decision to block or counter an attack constantly happens. During these decision we've taken out the meaningless decision making so you could focus on what's important in a battle. We achieved this through action keys. Aerial skills can be done by one or two keys depending on your decision making. You can also achieve fancy combat through minimal controls and this can all be done with the mouse and keyboard."

The combat system can be seen and played without too much assistance from the UI and that is the main concept behind the combat system overall. Simplistic controls with a spectacular result. In addition to all this, useless skills become unusable so you don't have to worry about making useless decisions. The UI and battle systems are incredibly user friendly.

Once the demo of solo play was completed, a demo of group play began. This party also took place at level 30 in a level appropriate dungeon. The group consisted of a Gon Destroyer, a Lyn Force Master and a Jin Blade Master. Take a look.


I went ahead and added the Assassin option for the "Class profile information bit (the bit found under your avatar). Adding the Assassin class messed up the balance of things on that option so be sure to change it! To change it simply head into your options by clinking the drop down menu on the top right of our site and selecting "My Settings". Once there hit the "Profile" tab and scroll all the way down to change your class.

If I read the news correctly, GStar was not until Thursday Pacific time, but I see we have all this news already!

Yes, G-star is still to come but this was included in NCSoft's Pre-Press release thing and it held many great info!

I went ahead and added the Assassin option for the "Class profile information bit (the bit found under your avatar). Adding the Assassin class messed up the balance of things on that option so be sure to change it! To change it simply head into your options by clinking the drop down menu on the top right of our site and selecting "My Settings". Once there hit the "Profile" tab and scroll all the way down to change your class.

In the trailer...is that flying char towards the end of the trailer .......sporting a Lyn's tail?
The other char who was flying also had the odd tail...

OMG look at those images! And then look at Hyung-Tae's artwork! That's just beautiful....
It's amazing, this game is art. Hyung-Tae's artistic vision translate perfectly into the game, no doubt.

Oh by the way, you can walk on water! and fight on water! No more lame environments with invisible walls whenever there's water around.

I want to watch that first vid...., not the trailer nor the dungeon fight, but the demo presentation by the staff where they explain everything :(

@Xavex,

No, that's just the outfit. The oufit has like a tail decoration attached to it. You can also see this tail attachment in the G-Star 2009 trailer. A female Jin Blademaster has that costume and you can see that tail on her too.

Tails are exclusive to Lyns, for now... :laugh:

Aren't those pants the same pants? I think it's just a decoration for that outfit. Other Blademasters don't have that tail.

What an amazing artist. It's not just the sexy characters, but look at the male characters, such freaking detail, lighting, face structures, everything!

The fabric/texture on that dress is breathtaking... So used to seeing armor in rpgs and such, this stuff rivals anything any rpg (EVEN FF) can accomplish when it comes to attires.

The environments are just as breathtaking as the characters themselves (so rare in MMOs).
Her clothes look amazing... love the scrolls and stuff she has. By the way while that sword looks similar to a katana/samurai sword I believe it is not. Probably a similar cousin of the samurai sword, this one's more curved overall.

yes! walking on water, i've been waiting so long for this function to be implemented into a game, two worlds 2 is the only one i know of (that is a decent game...)

I wonder if it's back to being the main source of fast transportation.

I bet these next-gen MMOs like FFXIV don't even let you walk on water (and probably only if the dungeon is based on having water trails.

In B&S it looks authentic. They even show it off in this images, like saying to us "yes, no more walking around water." :laugh:

Yeah, this was something they were having doubts on. But it seems they worked it out and showing it off in true glory.
I hope it is the main source of transportation.

Mounts should only be an OPTION, nothing more than that. I want to my character to run wild through the landscape!
