I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but...Will it be dubbed? I personally think it'll sound extremely awkward if dubbed.

well... i seriously doubt it will be in Korean with American English subtitles, Though that would be pretty cool if they had that as an option.

From what I understand, having a voice pack from another region costs licensing fees. It would still be awesome to have the option like the nostalgic subtitle martial arts movies.

If they were to dub, are there alot of contents to dub over? I heard that there's like couple thousands different voice effects in KBnS.

Yup. All characters, npcs, and most mobs have voice.

As long as the voice acting quality isn't as shitty as the usual fandubbings we find on Youtube, I'll be fine. But I most likely will install Korean Voice packs.

You would be correct sir. This is why many foreign games (usually JRPGs) a lot of times forgo the original voice cast and dub their work. Licensing fees are incredibly expensive even for a no-name voice cast. When you start having famous celebrities voicing your game those costs increase even more.

In other words, this is why we hear JYB in everything in America

It's being developed by TBL whom are owned by NCSoft, the game will be licensed by them in the west as well as I understand it. With that in mind, don't they then already own the license to distribute world wide, with the original dub?

Pretty sure the game is dubbed sadly, at least from the trailers. Thanksfully we can still just use a korean voice pack to take care of the hideous english dubs (why do they even waste money paying people who don't even dub correctly anyway is something that get beyond me).

How do you know the dubs will be "hideous" at this point?

I've heard some awesome english voice acting before; I'm going to give Blade & Soul's english voice acting, if any at all, a chance before 'jumping the gun' and automatically ruling that it sucks. >.>;

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, that is a very broad statement to make. Truth be told there are quite a few great games out there with phenomenal dubbing work done to them.

One of them is Nier for the 360/PS3 which happens to be where my avatar is from.

Another great one is Dragon Quest VIII for the PS2. Richard Honeywood and his team at Square-Enix did some of the best localization work I have ever seen in the video game industry with this one. Shame he no longer works for them.

And I suppose while were on the PS2 try out Odin Sphere and Grim Grimoire. Two more games with fantastic English voice work. There are plenty more but these are just a few of my favorite examples.

Yeah, just saying "ALL ENGLISH DUBS ARE BAD!!!!!" ends up having you miss out on great english dubs. Sometimes I think that the english dub is better than the original language dub, even. Just chill and wait, and if you don't like it then just mod it instead of making wide generalizations that don't even work.

I've seen bad english dubs (Girl with a Dragon Tatoo, not an anime, comes to mind first, as I hate reading subtitles throughout a whole movie, but for that movie, I'd rather read the subtitles) and I've seen what I consider good dubs (personally, I never did see why people thought Naruto's dub was bad, I actually prefered Sasuke's voice in the dub over the original, as the original had him sounding waaaaay older than a 13yo).

Of course this is an MMO, so I'm more than willing to just read the lines anyways, so it's not like I need to hear english dubbed voices.

From my understanding part of the game has already been dubbed over. Whether it is good or bad is all up to personal opinion.

I'd personally like them to keep the option for switching to the Korean voice-track. It would be nice to have the choice and no MMO has done this yet but many companies should learn to do it.

I often find that the original language works out better with the content at hand. Lets hope NCSoft see this thread and put some thought into it.

Normally I prefer original voice acting but not ALL english dubs are bad, JYB simply blows my mind and I prefer him over most JP VAs tbh. (especially if hes playing a villain, omfg his villain voice is godlike)
