  2. If Lyn BM isn't available from the start, I hope that any event items (such as the preorder exclusives) are account-bound rather than character-bound for transfering once they get released. Although I don't see what's stopping them from plucking out all of the classes for release from the get-go without the rest of the content. It seems like the most important to have ready from the start.
  3. I'd contemplate taking those just so I don't have to see anybody using them. Naruto, really?
  4. I've never personally purchased a Collector's Edition of any game because the goods they include are typically useless. The Bad: Artbook of art I can view online, and soundtrack I can listen to online/in-game. It's always nice to own, sure, but it's not like they serve much purpose. Absolute zero interest. A figure would do the trick as something worth owning, but it's always seemed strange to release a figure for an MMO CE where you're meant to design your own character. Especially an MMO with varying races, where the figure isn't necessarily the one you're playing: see Guild Wars 2 CE. Pass. The Good: Anything Practical. A physical map could be useful, especially if it's made of cloth. A USB is technically useful, but I imagine we all have enough as-is. Hit or Miss: In-Game Items. They're hit or miss because they're the absolute best reward to include, the prize I'd be most interested in, but I'm also iffy on being forced to buy physical goods to get some items attached. Need to be good enough to incentive getting it, but not so good you feel forced. Personally the best example of a recent Collector's Edition (/imo) would be, ironically, Final Fantasy XIV. It included a physical copy of the game, month subscription, a Journal half-filled with concept art, a security USB, a map made of cloth, and a Tumbler.. It includes the art book everybody loves, but everything else in it is themed, but practical and useful. Opposed to an expensive figure you may or may not like. Absolutely one I'd have loved..if I had any interest in that game. It's probably cheap to produce as well. Lastly, they get an exclusive in-game helmet for the item collectors (such as myself). Perfect.
  5. Do you consider GameSpot to be the most reputable source when it comes to TBA release dates, and do you honestly think that's not a placeholder?
  6. Not in my case, nor the non-existent communities of all the games they shut down, though. See: Luminary, Kitsu Saga, Repulse, Metal Assault, Legendary Champions, Dream of Mirror Online, Project Torque, LaTale, Luminary, etc.. Don't get attached to any game they publish.
  7. Not to detract from the topic, but I disagree! Aeria Games is where all good MMOs get published to die. Case in point: Metal Assault, the localized version of Giga Slave. Probably my favorite MMO ever released (as of yet). For a good year of service the only updates they ever did were cash shop items, cash shop sales, cash shop notices..but I loved the game, so I didn't mind it. Until after investing a good $100 into the game ($50 being the cost to -max out your guild-. No joke, expanding your guild was $1 a member for 40 members until cap, and $10 for the guild icon) I got banned for no reason that I know of. Account just locked down as if it never existed. Then they shut down the game along with dozens of others. Aeria Games just milks out their games until the profits dip and then they kill it off. I'm staying clear of them, personally. Good example of F2P quality right there. B2P is what dreams are made of.
  8. For me it's B2P or bust (or F2P..) Cost isn't really the issue, but rather my sense of ownership. If I put down $60 to buy a B2P MMO, I own it. And if I buy an expansion for it, I'll own that too. Permanently, without commitment. On the otherhand, with the P2P model, you own nothing. Essentially all you're doing is 'renting' the game, and even once you've paid out nearly $200 at the end of the year you'll have nothing if you drop your subscription, essentially money down the toilet. As mentioned, cost isn't the issue. I've personally pumped hundreds of dollars within months to certain MMOs I'd become enamored with, but that's because those hundreds of dollars went towards things I'd own forever. Be it fancy items, appearance changes, inventory/bank expansions and so on. I have never and most likely will never play a P2P game because I'll own nothing of it. I'm willing to invest a lot more money to own things than to have the same things but as an indefinite rental. Similarly, I'm only willing to buy retail copies of games so long as they're available rather than digital downloads. With the recent failure of almost every P2P MMO being launched (soon to be including it's closest competitor TERA) and the flourishing of NCSoft's Guild Wars 2, B2P just makes too much sense.
  9. I've been playing GW2 and the community has been pretty great in it. In fact, at $60 for a GW2 license getting banned from GW2 would equate to roughly 4 months worth of a P2P game. The punishment is far more severe, let alone if the P2P game had a free trial (as they often do). imo: B2P with microtransactions = perfection. Fingers crossed.
  10. The censoring in TERA goes far beyond the clothing modification for that race. And bear in mind that people (like me) dislike any censorship in general. To me you'd not be playing TERA, you'd be playing 'Westernized censored TERA', to which I lose all interest.
  11. Hope this means a chance for B2P with micro-transactions (ala Guild Wars 2). Seems like every few weeks another P2P game switches to F2P. TERA (which one could consider a close competitor) recently merged down to 3 servers which can't speak well for it's performance. Guild Wars 2 (B2P) performing so well they actually had to shut down sales for a while due to overpopulation. AION recently became F2P in NA and EU, both markets mentioned. LINEAGE 2 NA F2P.. Can't see them doing any evaluating and launching it as a P2P game. Also crossing my fingers that the censorship in the trailer is just for the trailer. When I heard the NA version of TERA had censorship I dropped any and all thoughts of playing it.
  12. I'm heart-set on playing a Lyn but I absolutely hate playing Mages/Support in MMO. Really frustrating that the only two classes that Lyn has access to currently are the two that I don't want to play, especially as I'd be willing to play any of the others. I'd love to see Lyn access to Assassin and Blade Master personally, as they have no overly large weapons to carry (KFM if possible!). There's fat chance of me playing this if it ends up P2P as expected if I'm forced to choose either a race or class I don't like, fat being none.
  13. I need to play as a Lyn, but the only criteria for what class I play is that it can't be magic (it's the one type of class I get no satisfaction from). Force Master and Summoner, erk! Please bring back Lyn Blade Masters ):
