  1. Bns Shop

there's no reason for na/eu publishers to not fully use the variety of those costumes for the shop. of course, they probably won't put all of them in the shop to the same time though. but regularly updating the cash shop is one of the most important tasks to most producers of mmo publishing. and using stuff that's already in the client is always the easiest option. so you really can expect them to be available on na/eu sooner or later ^^ edit: and btw, isn't is possible to sell items from the cash shop for game money? so he doesn't necessarily need to topup his own account, but could just ask any korean player if he would trade that costume for xxx gold. but i'm not playing actively so i'm not sure.
  2. Stats And Each Class.

i disagree that "aim assist" is a bad thing. i think it actually offers more possibilities and allows improved action over targeting free combat systems. targeting free combat: all that's technically possible is that you can cast skills with different collision check boxes in front of your character. it doesn't matter if there's even an opponent or if you just attack air, staring at nothing. semi/focus-targeting (you don't have to press tab or click the monster) allows the same, but adds much more possibilities. now you can "interact" with your opponent in much different ways. just like in real live, in order to successfully execute martial art techniques you have focus on your opponent. skills like throwing your opponent up in the air and kick it don't again or pressing the opponent down and punch it in the face would hardly be possible in a targeting free mmo. same applies to active defense / block / evade techniques. in action combat, focus is a important thing. but if you rather like to spam your aoe button, b&s might not be the right game for you. which of course is not a bad thing either.
  3. i partly agree, though i think it is a combination of both things. even though the developers make many design mistakes as well, you can still do something about it as a player. for instance, being member of an active guild makes a huge difference. but yea, maybe the root of the problem is not that players think they should play a mmorpg like it was a rpg with cooperative option, but that developers make them think that way.
  4. some people need to realize that mmorpgs are not about rushing through content... anyone who becomes bored and quits the game after reaching the max level and obtaining the best gear honestly does not know at all how to play a mmorpg. the core aesthetics of mmorpgs are usually fellowship and competition. what you want to do is to become member of an active guild, join your new (or old) friends on the teamspeak server and do all sorts of random stuff one can do in a vast interactive 3d world. you already have gotten the rare drop from that dungeon? awesome, now there are 20 guild mates you can help getting that item as well - that's the way of thinking one has to achieve in order to enjoy a mmorpg for month if not years to come. i however agree on the idea that b&s lacks PvP content. the replayabilty of PvE content is depleted sooner or later. but if done right, PvP never gets boring. imho an extensive guild war and/or faction war system is a must have for any successful mmorpg. but in the end, the content of a mmorpg are its players.
  5. Why am I unable to launch NCLauncher

you'd have to launch the game using the button on the website. you can also launch it with a local shortcut when you put that in the target line: "path to\NCLauncher.exe" /SelfUpdate:"Yes" /LauncherID:"ncLauncher" /CompanyID:"0" /LUpdateAddr:"up4svr.plaync.co.kr" /GameID:"BNS_KOR"
  6. How to 'Rekindle the Hype'.

    that's from steparu's website: http://steparu.com/latest-news/1095-blade-a-soul-legendary-op
  7. How to 'Rekindle the Hype'.

to me the most important question would be: "are you going to put pay2win content into the cash shop (similar to the korean version, sadly), or do you realize that exclusively advanced customization and not necessarily needed benefits are what truly makes a healthy player base of paying customers?" to the same time, I know that this question cannot be answered any time soon. however, this would absolutely determine my interest and probably that of many others in B&S. I don't really want to know too much about the actual game, its story, mechanics and so on... i'm not saying that i don't care about that stuff, but i don't want to spoil myself.
  8. Valentine's Day Doboks!

hm, isn't that a bit over the top? i mean sexy characters are great, but this? i'm not playing this game in search for porn you know... on the other hand, bashing monsters while being clothed as a prostitute certainly will be an interesting experience.
  9. F2P rumors.

I still think and hope ncsoft is planning to cover the market with all three popular payment models. you ever heard of the title "Wild Star"? it's a game currently in development published by ncsoft and obviously designed to be f2p. so... what the plan could be: Blade & Soul: P2P Guild Wars 2: B2P Wild Star: F2P makes sense, no?
  10. NCSOFT Confirms Western Development

there's a poll running on that topic: http://www.bladeandsouldojo.com/topic/4349-payment-discussion/ would like to quote LilLyn17 from that thread.. fully agree on that. to me, b2p simply won't be enough to hold off the "whining kids". in addition to that, i think ncsoft shold cover the market by offering all three payment models: B2P - Guild Wars 2 P2P - Blade & Soul F2P - Wild Stars or something and one more valid reason for B&S to be P2P is that when developing a good game, it is wrong to decide on the payment model afterwards. the payment model the company chose for a title should be considered already at very early stages of development. you can't just build a entire MMO and decide afterwards "Ok, that's going to be F2P/P2P!". also, i hate the idea of a cash shop being implemented in B&S. as long as nothing but small conveniences and advanced customization options are being sold, it's fine. but with microtransactions available there's always the option to sell power, and that's an option very attractive to some producers...
  11. the fact that there are now official NA and EU websites with teams behind them that are working on community and localization is a huge progress. of course we do not know when they started translating and how much content in words it is, but very early 2013 is not unrealistic i'd say.
  12. How would you make an MMO?

when you are planning a game, you won't start with any mechanics, items or characters. not even the story is what you should write first. the first and most fundamental thing you and your team want to decide on are the "core aesthetics" you want to deliver. the main reason why players are playing the game, the reason of engagement. any other elements will be build around the core aesthetic and will be influenced by it. are you thinking of becoming a game designer or do you just want to gather some interesting (but not necessarily relevant in game development) ideas as a player, because it is fun?
  13. Blade & Soul 7 Waves (Major) Update

would you guys stop calling that new class lyn blade master please? ^^' for one, it's not the lyn exclusive class. this title goes already to the summoner. so we can assume it's another "Master" class and some other races can become one, too. and secondly the class uses sabers, not swords, and certainly it will have a completely different play style compared to the blade master. so it's just wrong naming that class like it's a duplicate or another version of the blade master, just because the weapons look quite similar. edit: actually, i'm very happy that the devs do not feel forced to create a class that looks totally different from the others. that would just be the typical mmorpg stereotype. it's possible to make classes with fundamentally different play styles but same kind of weapon, for example. so, just because their weapons look alike doesnt mean it's hardly a new class, i'd say.
  14. P2P or B2P?

p2p, please. for the community. in the end, you are going to pay the same if you'll keep playing steadily. either it's a monthly subscription fee or it's a new expansion every three month costing three times a monthly subscription fee. to me the only difference is that a p2p game has a more mature community. edit: also, a p2p model pretty much will exclude that shit with micro transaction is going on (cash shop).. that would be the worst
  15. I don't think B&S was released too early. Keep in mind It's an MMOG. One of the biggest advantages of an MMO compared to titles playable offline is the fact that it can be best developed life. The feedback the Devs can gather from a game put life is way wider as the feedback they can extract from beta tests. Another thing is that it can be very dangerous to the game's success and life span if it is held back for too long. I believe it's the right moment for a MMORPG to be released as soon a solid, well functioning basis is reached. All the extra stuff like battles between guilds, more additional PvP modes and more high-end content can, or rather should be added afterwards. I believe and hope that the B&S devs know how to compile a massive variety of feedback and are able to make the right decisions based on it. Not every feedback - even if it's coming from a large number of players - would be healthy for the game in long term.
