“Blade & Soul's will definitely have its OBT this year” -NCsoft Director Jae-Sung Lee
NCsoft told us in the past that Blade & Soul's OBT would begin last year, but they ended up pushing it back saying that they wanted to make the game proper first! Instead of an OBT release for 2010 they handed us a demo at the G-Star 2010 convention and Decembers Soul Party private gathering. The Soul Party event contained game content up to level 40, showing people that developing was well on its way but they still left us hanging at the event, giving us no word on when the OBT would arrive.
With NCsoft's previous push back in mind many feared that Blade & Soul's OBT wouldn’t happen this year, but after Jae-Sung Lee said “It will definitely happen.” at this recent conference, all the worries seemed to fade away.

Funny how we went from hoping for a Western closed beta in the West from just hoping it comes out for Korea at all this year...
Wonder when the CBT will start then...., kinda sounds like the OBT will be far into the year, like Autumn or Winter...
We'll have to wait but as Ghastly said, all the content will be revealed >_>!!!

They are usually set in the region the game is being developed in first, Korea in this case. NA/EU wont be getting their OBT till the game is localized. I could be wrong though, take this with a grain of salt. This is just what happened with Aion, NCsoft's most recent Korean MMO. NCsoft has yet to announce anything official about what regions Blade & Soul will be released in first or if it will be a global release, these are just assumptions.

I really hope that's what they decide to do. I think localization tends to dilute the story more than anything else...so what if we may or may not catch a couple of references? We'll live.
Plus, localizing just makes the process take even longer.
So no crappy English dub?
i'd rather have original voice acting, coz otherwise you'd have to re-animate mouth movement and that'll take time...
Man i'm all for doing English voices myself, cause in Aion most of them suck. Localization doesn't have much to do with language spoken. Rather familiarizing the game's contents etc for a different region.
Hope they stick to the subtitles.(Cant fool myself,it's a high chance we'll still get dubs.)

First time I've heard that. But if it's true then wow, that would truly allow B&S to release only a some months after the Korean release instead of a whole year after the Korean release.
