Hit boxes.

17 posts in this topic

I have noticed that Blade and Souls hit boxes aren't the greatest. This could prove problematic considering a lot of the next gen MMO's such as Tera and Guild Wars 2 are known for their realistic hit boxes. Does anyone else feel his way? Do you think it's possible the hit boxes will be improved? Or is this not problem in your opinion?

GW2? Good hit boxes? HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Well I suppose GW2 isn't a true action MMO so it doesn't matter so much but you can wildly miss in that game and it will still do damage, and mobs chasing you will still be able to hit you from about a metre away.

Back on topic, I haven't really noticed any problems in the videos I've seen but I'd like to have my attacks hit or miss realistically.

Do you have any pictures or videos of the wrong hitboxes?

This way we can send something to team bloodlust to check.

They are present in many many videos. I am sure TBL knows about it already I just hope they look into fixing it.

Yeah, but I'm guessing I'm not seeing the same things you're seeing. They look fine to me. O_o

They are very apparent in this video. It is my Steparu so you know it isn't ping or system related. A few cases you will see hoe she isn't really in front of the enemy but they attack and still hit her.

While Step has a way better ping then me for example. He is still playing from NA West and has a Ping of around 150. You cant take that as a measure for a hitbox. For something reliable you will need a Korean Video.

I have not met any Hitbox specific problems, only the ones that I will blame on ping until I play on a EU server. There is one current issue with the Lyn Swordmasters Force Choke making Boss Hitboxes rly weird sometimes, making it hard for classes with short range to hit (Especially KFM).

Why make suggestions if you don't intend to send them to TBL, and further, if you haven't played the game? Theory-crafting from videos can only hurt when you don't have actual experience of how something works. Videos are subject to ping, player skill and perhaps even other elements we didn't know about at the time.

In PVE I haven't experienced problems with hit box. I'll have to reserver my opinion about PVP for a later date. Keep in mind you auto-target an object (player, mob, etc) that is in front of you.

There is bad hitboxes in B&S but if I was to compare them to another game, it'd be TERA, which has superb hitboxes.

GW2 hitboxes are decent but not much better than B&S IMO, even for a "lock" based target system.

I actually agree that Tera had decent hit boxes but it's a little ironic, because when I played at launch everyone was complaining about them as well.

Sometimes I think people just like to blow hot air because they are bored.

There's another problem too.

Use the youtube videos is not very reliable because some videos are very old and some as used in the example were made a year ago during the closed betas and in this time the TBL was adjusting things like hitbox.

So to see if there's a real problem with hitbox first you need to check if the videos are new (the current version), if was made by someone in korea with a good connection and see if it happen with PVE or PVP or both.

Can't please everyone :p

There will always be complainers and always someone unhappy with something. 90% of the community can love 1 thing, but youll always have that 10% who are unsure or unhappy with another. Such is life lol. But you are absolutely right.

I think most people who think they have a problem with hit boxes Really just have bad internet...

probally its a bit of both, but with a bad spec computer and slow internet prob won't help...

Newp.

You could have the best connection ever and a bad hitbox is a bad hitbox regardless.

But I get what you're saying, bad connection on top of a bad hitbox is pretty nasty.

In this video:

They seem quite good even though she sometimes gets hit even though she's not in the front. But that's just once or twice. The video is pretty new too so no need to worry about that i guess.

I noticed this even in Korean videos from KBNS. It's especially noticeable with the Kung Fu Master videos because you expect those fists to land on a target but the hit box extends beyond the bodies of mobs. I'm not especially worried about when near-hits/misses still hit for full or when mobs hit you from far away. Tera does have great hit boxes, but I think ti's in part because they use a lot of big ass weapons so those weapons have great reach. While for instance on the Kung Fu Master they look like they're hitting 5 feet away from the exterior of the target. It sort of destroys the cinematic quality of combat that BNS touts as one of it's main selling points when it's simultaneously ruined by a several-foot gap between the end of your weapon/fist and the target. I'm sure it's less noticeable for force masters and summoners. I thought perhaps it was my imagination or the situation of the videographers themselves but I recently grabbed the Russian version to try out and I'm seeing the same thing. It really turns me off, and I've been following this game (casual interest) for years.
