Gunslinger Class

132 posts in this topic

Gunslinger has been one of the most awaited classes in Blade and Soul so far. People want it and yearn for it. Imagine my excitement when it was confirmed with the summoner. However, this brought on a lot of hate towards this class idea.

"Herp Derp it doesn't fit the game"

This statement is flawed and completely wrong form my point of view. Just because the class uses guns doesn't mean it can't fit in. Bns contains many martial art related classes which is probably the main reason why people share so much negativity towards this class. However, not only do the guns look oriental, when used by the one gunslinger character in the inn cut scene she isn't just standing and shooting. She is doing aerial maneuvers and constantly moving.

Here are some videos of how they could even make the gunslinger ranged as well as a close ranged combatant. Pay attention to Yuna's fight style{girl with dual pistols for those of you not interested in Final Fantasy}.

This is the type of style I foresee the gunner having, that or a ranged acrobat of some sort.

For those of you still awaiting the Gunners release here are some cool weapon designs found in BnS archives.

I'm in full support of TeamBloodlust reconsidering developing the Gunslinger/Gunner class.

They know it fits since they have Gunner non playable characters in B&S already

I still feel they'll add this class next year as a surprise, but don't expect them early on. Might be the 9th class.

Gunners work in an Eastern fantasy setting, those who disagree don't understand that these wouldn't be modern guns. But more like the earliest type of guns which did ok damage but weren't deadly per say.

If you want to discuss this class further I can keep this here but if you want me to move it to the suggestion forum for more support let me know.

If you think it would get more support in the suggestion forum then feel free to move it. I only usually put important things in general discussion because it seems to be the most active part of the forum. Thanks a lot Ghastly! :joss_stick:

Awesome, I'll move it there then. In general discussion it won't get real discussion (we've discussed this class to death). At the suggestion forum people can rally behind this class possibility.

YES! If they can make a gunner class that moves like that, I'd be in LOVE! LOVE!

I thought that the gunner possibility was thrown out? I could of sworn they announced that they wouldn't be introducing a gunner class.

Besides, you can actually pick up guns in-game anyways.

I guess my memory didn't serve me well. This is when they introduced the Summoner. They said "the next class is not 'Gunner'" but that doesn't rule out it's a possibility. I still have this gut feeling I read an article stating they won't introduce a gunner class. However I do not recall of it was the article I linked or an older one. I'll look into it.

I hope no one here is under the assumption I'm anti-gunner. In fact, I'll probably be the first to cheer if it was announced :)

While I'm completely against guns in real life I love them in creative games, namely ones like Devil May Cry and retro SNES games. Gunning is fun in games.

Americans/Westerners love guns, it's a win win for TeamBloodlust if they go for it.

I'm..not as certain as everyone else as far as a gunner class goes. I mean I'm not against it--as a matter of fact I'd totally play a gunner. (I even have a name in mind should a gun-class come into being.)

I dunno...I'm always iffy about ranged classes in MMO. The only range class I ever truly loved was the Megaten gunner (More specifically the Magic Bullet). If that could somehow be sped up and given physical moves and combos I might change my tune. >_>

I wouldn't mind it at all, honestly I was kind of hoping it would've been the announced class instead of Lyn BM and was shocked when it wasn't.

Like someone said above, there are plenty of NPC's who are gunners and videos of what that classes game style would look like. I mean not everyone in an mmo wants to be melee and it's always nice to have options in both areas.

When I read somewhere that they didnt want to implement the Gunner class because it doesnt fit into the game, then all I can say is: What the hell is Pohwaran doing the a game then? A little badass girl with a huge minigun melting faces and being awesome, while still fitting perfectly into the game world.

Imo a gunner would fit quite well into B&S and I don't really see any problem with it what so ever.

Im also pretty sure and hope that they still think about out / work on it, even if I will probably never play one.

Exactly this lol

That girl with the white/black ponytails has a huge gattling gun and they're saying guns don't fit?

I'm gonna go and be the devil's attorney! I don't want a gunner class.

Why? The same reason given already. It doesn't fit the game. But, wait, I don't mean the game itself. You can see already, lot's of NPC enemies and bosses use guns. But that's it, it should be limited to them.

See it like this, guns are something used to balance the lack of martial arts that that person doesn't have. The hero, you, don't need that since you are already kinda almighty and stuff. And also, that's not something that is taught in the Dojo where your first begin your adventure.

With that said, here is my semi-reason for not wanting a gunner class.

The point that it's not a choice in the starting adventure is because the class doesn't exist. There was also a time where you couldn't pick to play as an assassin in the beginning of your adventure. BECAUSE IT DIDN'T EXIST YET. Refer to the videos above as to how the gunner could be worked into martial arts. It is also quite counter productive to exclude the class. You have a main character npc that uses dual pistols. You have all of these cool gun models and TBL is just going to throw it away? Also to everyone who is confused, no where did they dis-confirm the gunner class. It just wasn't the class released in the 7 waves update. Gunner was confirmed at the same time summoner was.

Hey, we are all entitled to our own opinions so no need to get defensive over someone disagreeing with you. You can't force someone to want a gunner class.

Might be the 9th class.

@w@ 9th class?? Are you counting Lyn Blade Master as the 7th >w<???

Tsk tsk Ghast :gloomy:

As far as Gunners go, yeah, I'm still going to say we have two legit classes to go,being the Gunner and the last mysterious class. Gunners popped up back in 2009 trailer, were confirmed by the team alongside the summer and have mobs that use the weapon in-game, also with a heavy story based npc in the bikini Gunner. So I don't think there needs to be any doubt that the class isn't coming, matter of fact, it seems they might be working really hard on it with it being pushed back like it has. I think the reason for it's delay is purely that TBL might be addressing how exactly to stop playing saying it doesn't fit. We'll see.

Nowhere in that post was I trying to "force" the class on anyone. Nor was I trying to sound defensive. I am also entitled to my opinion . That post was me trying to prove point.

Yeah I think a lot of can agree nobody is buying the "Lyn Blade Master" as its own class. But, back on topic your post is basically what I have been trying to get across for AGES now haha thank you for a voice of reason

gun-fu all the way, theres so many arguments that ive been giving in all the other threads i dont really feel like repeating all of em.

i think people saying it doesnt fit the game are being kindof a hypocrite, considering other classes.

To be honest, there is one thing ingame that makes the whole gunner class sound a little wrong.

Did you know that, after you defeat certain enemies that are carrying a gun you can simply pick that gun that they dropped and shoot enemies with it? And those guns are major strategic weapons since they deal quite the damage.

So far, nothing impressed me enough to say Blade & Soul needs a gunner class. I would prefer much more to get a class completely new, with something I wasn't expecting than get something we were expecting.

And when I mentioned the beginning I was talking about the whole feel of the initial area. I dunno, whenever I see guns in this kinda of setting I always associate with a steam punk place, like boats or something.

gunners in other mmorpg's just dont cut it, i think they are cool, but mainly for the twin pistols.

but for Blade & Soul, with this combat style, it can be 1 sick ass class, theres many possibilities for it that do fit, and the gun models weve seen dont look all that steampunkish, infact, they look quite artistic in a way.

i feel a gunner could be some kind of middle build between kungfu master and forcemaster.

close combat abilities like the kfm, and then ranged 'shooting' like the force master, shooting slightly faster due to the guns but less damage per shot just to even it out.

chi bullets!

omg, i didnt want to have this discussion again but i cant help it, i want to see this class so bad =[

i feel if guns are in the game, and even usable, i think there should also be a class that actually specializes in the use of these wepons, it only sounds natural for 'people' to observe these wepons and use them.

Yes, I never said you should not have your own opinion, but by "proving a point" to someone else's opinion you have the generic "I'm right & your wrong" argument. Listen, I really don't want to get further into this but if someone doesn't want a gunner, don't tell them why they should want it instead. Let them not want a gunner, and just let it go :)

And that is what I was talking about Sekuiya, how gamers can already grab a gun.

I was proving my own point, he defended why he doesn't want the gunner class and i defended why I want the gunner class. That doesn't mean I am wrong and that doesn't mean he is wrong. People that argue their points in the way you described don't get much accomplished. My post is up to your own interpretation, just know that's not the correct interpretation of what I had to say.

Back on topic, just because you can pick up guns and use them in the game doesn't mean anything. If I recall you can also pick up bombs and throw them at enemies. Does this mean that assassins can't utilize bombs? There is a big difference between picking up a gun/bomb then shooting/throwing that gun or bomb. Assassins make the use of bombs more than that, they use them strategically to their fighting style. This can and will most likely be the same for a gunslinger class.
