Thank you very much for the interview Dojo, and thanks for translating Yuan and Nayami, much appreciated.

Lastly, would you like to say anything to those dreaming of getting in the artwork industry?

Back in my days when you were drawing it was a fight with yourself, but now there are many tools and systems there to help you. Drawing is making your imagination come true and you should be able to show what you imagine in full detail.

I say read and draw a lot to get the experience, and later have a vision of what you want to draw and do it. For example if you have a vision of yourself wanting to draw better than the person in front of you, I think it will help you become a better artist. Right now, I personally think of Kim Hyung-Tae as my rival and I'm constantly trying to be better than he is.

This is probably something that everyone says but the best way to become better is to constantly try and put effort into your art. Look back and see if what you drew today is better than what you drew yesterday and if so, in what way it is better? Go back and try to fix the errors.

Have to say that the original Lyn looks positively badass. I really hope they incorperate that design somewhere else in the game. Maybe it'll even be called "The First Lyn".

I'll have to read the rest after work, but it looks good.

EDIT: Thanks for the larger pics, Seraphy.

Very nice, interesting and refreshing interview indeed.

Hearing the word from someone other than the AD sure gives for interesting insights and points-of-view.

That one girl "of the great eights"...hadn't seen her before and she's positively up my alley [/nose-steam]

I love how the clothing is kept hawt, but nothing to "direct" if you will,

much like the designers had prolly intended.

It's easy to hoist someone in a bikini,

but I much more prefer the "femme fatale" -ish outfit that also leaves something to imagination, if needed.

Much thanks to 'Yuan' for the translation and cheers to 'Sera.' for the larger pics.

- Lith. ...A.D.

You know a game and its design is good when the game model of a character looks better than the artwork

gallery_2_176_105298.jpg

B&S is one of the few games where this is true

I knew this was going to be a very informative interview since it went deeper into the design of the game as a whole and how Hyung-Tae Kim Directs his artists

I'm really surprised at how they went for 90% original, 10% eastern fantasy design, interesting!

That Nam girl is scary :surrender:

Thank you Nayami & Yuan!

PS

Lee Wang Soo is right, our future art has to be better than the past. That's why I haven't made illustrations in a while. After my sig illustration it's hard to make anything better.

That Lyn is absolutely adorable! I just want to huggle it~ :adore:

Totally hope that we see it incorporated into the game somehow.

This whole article has got me all riled up for creativity.

I think its about time I finally try my hand at modeling.

Off to download blender.

Neminis...AWAAAAY!~

When I saw that Lyn art...I was thinking "WHY IS THAT NOT IN THE GAME?!" If that was the Lyn..I would play Lyns... :embarrassed:

I wonder if the Korean players have the same reaction as us about that Lyn ;laugh;

if they do they might add that kind of Lyn to the game

Maybe it's like the "racial" ability that they had but was taken out later.

Since the females are so well defined the males play an awkward role in this game.

Right now 90% of the main characters are female (laugh). Internally we are trying to work on more male characters and truthfully we are slowly raising the numbers on male NPC’s to try to fit the ratio of male and female. Our next 3rd CBT will be a lot better regarding this problem

So there is going to be a 3rd CBT....man this game is going to have Duke Syndrome soon I swear. All these CBTs and very little REAL info besides the art directions and such.

They mentioned having a 3rd CBT a long while back (before the end of the year). They also said they'll be launching the game "soon after" this next beta.

is the game already in beta test??

"Yes, in South Korea. There has been a total of two closed beta testing events that took place in April and August, both lasting for only 5 days to a week."

You can check more similar questions on our Blade & Soul FAQ.

Awesome article. And wait, what? 2006? And he didn't join at the start of the project? For futilepath:

[ETC] How long has this game being in development?! O.O

Honestly speaking, I prefer the original hairstyle of Nam So-Yoo.

Can't wait to see the next ones.

There are many sexy outfits like the see-through outfits. We try to avoid anything too suggestive or obvious. Of course we leave it to the designers, but we try to avoid outfits that would bring us bad press. We try to keep the sexy things part of the undergarments.

Does this mean goodbye sexy fish-net assassin outfit? :(

I find it funny that they say that with half the women with hourglass figures, skimpy outfits that you can get

"The see-through outfit shown during the Art Conference last year won’t be implemented in live servers."

This was my reaction to this:

Two interview videos and some extra

So that's how Nam evolved. Her 3rd version is definitely the best version

On the censoring. They better not start covering up everything just because of a few teenagers/sexist jerks.

Exactly my feeling.

Why did thy have see through clothing in the first place? Sounds like they wanted some ERP to go on.

Being a female player, I would so wear that outfit ingame XD

Though I can understand why they would leave it out. Maybe they'll make a non-transparent version of it, because it really does look nice overall.

Finally read the interview. Definitely interesting.

I'm kind of saddened that they didn't leave the "racial traits" (i.e. Jin Wings) in, but I suppose some sacrifices had to be made. I also didn't realize that Nam was popular at all, and the way she's being described sounds like she'll end up becoming a sort of mascot for the game. Sort of like how Nao and Morrighan are for Mabinogi.

Kind of wish he went into more detail about the weapon and monster designs.
