MALE Characters - FEEDBACK (women & men plz)

Suggestions~ you can pick MORE than one answer   107 members have voted

  1. 1. For a Male game CHARACTER to be very attractive, his "appearance" should be...

    • very MASCULINE with an attitude and rippling MUSCLES
    • FEMININE. the most popular ones are all "pretty boys". (it is true.)
    • show lots of SKIN! >O if women can do it, you can too
    • TOUGH. (a.k.a. "badass". Excuse my language..)
    • PRINCELY. He should look like a prince. Or maybe a king?
    • CHARM & CHARISMA. He knows he got it because he does

    • NEAT with GOOD POSTURE. He looks so REFINED.
    • SLOPPY with BAD POSTURE. Just like L (Death Note)
    • COOL & INTELLECTUAL. (Detective Conan mwahahaha)
    • OTHER. Leave a comment of what attractive assets male game characters usually have or should have.

    • INDIVIDUALITY. The chance to stand out and be noticed.
    • VARIETY. many kinds of "styles" for men as there are women.
    • ROLE MODEL. The chance to be similar to my favorite anime , manga/manhwa, & game characters.
    • POPULARITY towards MEN. Other male players will want to be like me. HAHAHA~
    • POPULARITY towards WOMEN. Female players will find me very attractive. Free hugs <3
    • SIMILARITY. The chance to design a character that's similar to me or similar to my interests: punk, goth, elegant, intellectual, chuck norris, etc.
    • INTIMIDATION. The ability to intimidate and scare others with my appearance.
    • COMEDY. The ability to make people laugh at my appearance.
    • CUTENESS. The ability to make people want to take care of me. *is spoiled*
    • HEROISM, STRENGTH, & SECURITY. The ability to make people trust & depend on me.
  3. 3. FOR BOTH GENDERS: Pick some male game characters that you find very attractive OR would want to be like from this list.

All I'm saying is that if these little things got me, someone who has played female characters since the dawn of time, to play a male character and enjoy it, then I think it might help if B&S and other games added in the extra seasoning.

I can already tell you that if things stay the way they are, I am not touching a male char. in this game nor in Tera.

It could also have to do with my attraction to different things.

I rarely play just one race if they give me multiple races/factions. But if you give me one race/faction and two genders, then unless the two genders are different enough, I won't touch anything but the female char. (Oh pun).

I love the concept of the newer drawn male character, If they choose that model the guys can easily rival the women character models look wise, that being said I usually go for a character that looks like a cooler version of me, it makes me feel more personal to the story line and that is what I love the most about blade and soul. Your character is in the cutscenes for godsake

Without the proper character customization option only few female templates were alright to go with, imo.(2-3 from each race had decent)

I personally find male characters looking good enough already. The only thing that bothered me was huge difference in early costumes for both genders, where female costumes are without doubt better looking, though 20-25+ costumes for male characters aren't worse than female ones. I'm personally a fan of those shorts filled with air and floating accessories like scarfs.

Back on topic - I believe adding atleast twice more hairstyles than there already is would fix the "NON-uniqueness" that usually appears in MMORPG's.Since the game is made for massive amount of players, 5 to 10 or even 10 to 20 hairstyle choices, kinda doesn't cut it imo. And why am I talking about the hairstyles? Because, if we put nicknames aside, hairstyle is usually the first thing that you're recognizing someone by. Latest character customization video showed us that we'll be able to change face details like eye color shapes and so on, thus the chance that someone's gonna have same hairstyle as your character is higher than someone's gonna wear your costume. So yeah, having as many different hairstyles as possible is my suggestion and I did read previous posts. <_<;(just not all) Hairstyle is one of the core items that's making those guys on photo's as popular or as handsome as they are.

I find the body shapes pretty awkward, but if I can't play a Lyn BM then I'll definitely go for a Jin BM. Of course we all want our own unique bishies (as a female) and we want them to look awesome, not awkward.

Of course they can also be cute too X3

i think for anygame having a variety of body styles will be important for persons individuality. Unless the game is like is a specific story... but for games like MMORPGs... id think having variety is important.

:canny: I would just like The guys to have as much sex appeal as the women. And So far I love the way both the men and women are equal and yet different. Everyone plays this game, I want my eye candy too

The clothes look alot better on females, they might want to adjust that a bit to make males look a bit more badass instead of plain.

I suggest the ability to make a bishonen.

I like bishonen.

:3

But what I like best is emo guys...I always want to make them smile~ o///.///o

I fall for 'em...even by accident!!!

*Yes, I count Cloud as emo because he doesn't talk or smile much, and yes, I also count Juto as emo because he's so angsty through-out the game.^^*

Oh! Almost forgot!!!

Ideas for how the races should be different:

Gon: Manly men.

Jin: Smexy-bishi men.

Lyn: Adorible puppy-like little boys.

:3

That way, all us girls with our different types can get the eye-candy we want!!!^^

Personally i think that the males in the game [jins] are too animeish and sweet faced. I mean there ARE anime guys who can look badass but the males here are too sweet for me. That's why they don't really attract me. Well i think it's just my opinion because i prefer badass guys in general but not too muscly like toriko for example [although i think his face is cool, in the anime mostly]. Tbh i hate those cute girly bishounen guys like Ciel from Kuroshitsuji. And also i think the cluttered and stuffed full-of-accessories look doesn't fit guys. They need to look more casual to be really "cool". That style is for the ladies.

Sephiroth, Cloud, Kadaj, and a shit ton more from the FF series are all about what I go for (with just a little twist of some of my physical features so I can have an easier time really getting into the character) so I'm hoping the customization for them, and all that goes in well because I want to make an Iconic character at least for myself so i can feel like I'm an actual bad ass in the game (even though i wont be noticed by just about anyone haha)

I really don't believe in feminine or masculine existing, unless you are talking about genitalia.

I would like a character that is similar to me. And it is possible for boys to have curves, so that can be an option. Body types should also be available. :3

Personally I just think the issue is as he said, the males are too plain and stereotypical IMO. For the Jin, I can't see them looking "badass" and that needs to be changed. The Gon fit that, but at the same time I can't find them sexy personally. So they must find a balance for that for the two races.

IMO, the problem with male characters is the way the sexual dimorphism is portrayed.

Gon and Jin have a serious issues with the proportion of the torso. They have long abs with really small pecs.

notthesame.jpg

If they expanded the pec muscles to the half of the highest pack, or even 2/3 of it, they would look better, and considering the style of HTK, I believe that a 6 pack would look better than a 8 pack. They look disproportional bare torso but really look good with the outfits.

I think a Heroic, badass/tough, yet also sexy look is the way to go with a soft side of course. I also agree to some extent to what falconner has said above. I also like the modek that A–Aie has shown us, its what some people are looking for, not all, just some. ^^

First, i'd like to thank A-Aie for the awesome post *clap clap*......ye, the male character's always been a big issue in any game (always felt disappointed about this).

Talking about "attractive males", well....i'm a guy as well, but to get the attention of a woman (imho), you need to look mysterious, reserved (not talking much), but able to be very charismatic in the few moments you'll show your personality( the eyes and the hair are the most important part to achieve that).....about the body: not to "small", but neither too "heavy".....just an average build male, but with enough strenght to protect who's around him. (remember, he has to have some weakness, don't have to be like a "superhero")

Now i can't think of many characters that follow this line, but i think these should be fine

Snake Eater from MGS3

metal-gear-solid-3-snake-eater-20040713034652163.jpg

Metal-Gear-Solid-Snake-Eater-3D.jpg

And a Fairy Tail's character, Mystogan

Mystogan_arrives.png

269239-mystogan_2.jpg

So, as you can see, i think male characters in video games should have a lot of accessories, like women (especially for the face, like eye patches, hats, scarves ecc...)

I have to agree with Falconner too they made the chest for the males all wrong, i wondered why they didn't look as intimidating as other male chars in other games and now i see why. I still think though that if they had customization like perfect world did guys wouldn't have to resort to playing girls just cuz they look better.

It's NCsoft, all guys are gonna look like chicks anyways. But if I can help it I'm gonna rock a goatee so I don't look like a B. :3

I have read through this thread as the idea of it really interested me and personally, I have to say I feel like the original Gon/Jin look perfectly fine with tweaking you can make a character you feel could be a badass/tough/good looking. I would dislike if they tried to make them look "sexier/cuter" I feel like its a important aspect needed to add to them I feel like making them sexier/cuter would just make them less masculine making the females just that much more appealing to play as because if your guy is going to basically be a woman why not just play one and actually have something to look at.

PS. about the Korean/Chinese/Jpop images at the start I feel like if thats what they aimed to make them look like, you might as well cut the males from the game because I honestly couldnt tell if they were all men.

For me don't matter if the char is cute, strong, well designed or what.

It may be deformed or make strange movements.

The only thing it's need is be cool! Something like this guy:

Lol this is so wrong on many levels. These pics would work if you want the female population to play guys but no guys would want to play a bunch of kpop stars. If you want males to play males think anime. Like itachi, yami marik, pain, ulquiorra etc. more anime like male whle still not completely feminine will definitely get guys playng guys but until then i will stick to my oversexualized female toon

Well good point but I thought these races where suppose to be human like. I'd like to see ninja masked characters or characters with odd painted faces. I do like the tats on the faces though.
