Can my computer run Blade & Soul?

1368 posts in this topic

do you think a Laptop PC (C655DS5330) with 320GB Hard Drive, 3GB Memory could hold it? i dont have much on it yet....i dont even have it yet im actually planning to buy a laptop for this game and my budget it $400 so idk if this is ok here's the link to it: Clicky

That non-gaming laptop, unfortunately will struggle on lowest settings, for even non high-end games. 4 gigs of ram is also recommended.

Here's a benchmark for the graphics card. http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6310.40952.0.html

You'd want to basically have AT LEAST 30-40 fps in a game on medium. So when a lot of stuff is about to fill the screen, you can then change settings to lowest and have that remaining 30+ fps.

To be honest with a laptop and $400 bucks to keep up with Blade & Soul, I'd recommend waiting for the upcoming Black Friday in a few weeks. Try to save up some more and squeeze in an extra 100 or 200 bucks. You should be able to find a good deal on a gaming laptop for Black Friday sale =). If I see one around the time, I'll link you to it

Sales are starting now, I've found 2 that are around 600-700 dollars. When playing B&S you'd at least want to play it efficiently, instead of being stressed due to always playing with 5-15 fps on low. These 2 will get you 25+ fps on the latest high demanding games atm on low. B&S isn't as graphic demanding as the games listed, so you should at least be getting 30+ FPS on medium settings, that way when things get intense, you could get 30+ fps still even on low, to be able to still play well.

$629.95 ---> Benchmark http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6520G.55734.0.html (scroll down for how it handles on current games)

$699 ---> Benchmark http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5650.23697.0.html (scroll down for how it handles on current games) This one can play some of the latest games on medium with not too many problem.

Good luck =)

Based off your specifications and the model you posted, you're using this ASUS K52F laptop, or some variant of it. While it's obviously capable of doing basic computational needs for the average person, this laptop is not made for gaming. While your computer meets the minimum specifications to play (save your GPU), that's going to be an incredibly painful experience. You should be looking to meet or exceed the recommended specifications for an enjoyable experience.

Based on the model I linked above, it looks like you're using an Intel GMA 4500M integrated graphics card. Generally speaking, any laptop using an integrated graphics setup is going to struggle running any 3D game. Even look at the link I provided; the game struggled to run F.E.A.R. on low resolutions and graphics settings, and that game is from 2005. Here's

of Skyrim running on a similar rig; low resolution, low detail, extremely unreliable framerates.

Technically speaking, your computer will likely be able to boot up the Blade & Soul game client. You may be able to technically get the game running on your computer as well. Sadly, you will not be able to get any sort of decent level of performance out of the game, even at the lowest resolution and lowest detail settings. I honestly wouldn't expect you to get an average of 15 frames per second on the lowest settings possible. I would highly recommend looking into getting a new computer if you're serious about gaming, because you're going to have extremely poor performance with the game on that rig.

EDIT: Some of these posts above me are hurting my brain.

That looks good, you should be ok.

You didn't bother looking at his post at all, did you? That laptop wouldn't even come close to running this game at any reliable framerate. Why are you even posting if you aren't going to help, or even bother to read?

i feel that you will need to upgrade a few things lije your ram and video card (if any) and is this a laptop or a desktop

Again, specified the model name which includes notebook in it. A simple search and some cross-referencing can show he's running this ASUS K52F laptop.

CPU and Ram seem good but may need to go to i5 and 8GB

Also, the video card will need to upgrade.. if you're on a desktop.

Not a desktop, it's even mentioned in the model that it's a notebook. A simple search yields this ASUS K52F laptop as having matching specifications. His motherboard only supports two RAM slots, but 4GB DIMM sticks are only ~$30 as far as I know.

Upgrading from an integrated graphics setup to a gaming GPU isn't as easy as swapping parts, especially considering it's a laptop. Laptop parts are smaller than desktop parts, thus more expensive to make. Plus, we don't even know if a gaming GPU would fit in his case, and I doubt it would because that laptop wasn't made for gaming, so it likely doesn't have any extra space in it.

- - - - -

Again, I stand by my assertion that upgrading that laptop is not worth the hassle, frustration, or cost. I would recommend just investing in a desktop for gaming, since it's much cheaper to purchase and upgrade over time. If you're strapped for cash and tech savvy, I'd recommend building your own, which can be as cheap as $500 for a fairly powerful rig. If you want to purchase something pre-built, just take a peek around NewEgg and find something there.

I looked over the post again just after my break was over and noticed it was a laptop and didnt have time to edit my post. gaming on a laptop is expensive as it is. So id say just build a desktop.

Bladegiver, i agree with Notturno's assessment.

An integrated graphics card just doesn't have the processing power needed to run a modern 3d game, and upgrading a laptop is a challenge, even when it's possible and i suspect is it not with that laptop.

A gaming laptop needs to be designed for gaming from the ground up due to the limited space for all the components, and they come fairly expensive.

http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=category_browse&selected_cat=11

This link will show you a group of gaming laptops made by Sager, whom i've bought from before and had a good experience with. Don't be fooled by the prices listed there, those are the starting prices, soon as you start customizing with better parts you'll easily break 2 grand.

Generally speaking, building a desktop computer will get you more power for less money, but then it's not portable :)

I never really understood the appeal of gaming laptops.

Where are you going to game besides your own house? Your job? At school?

By what logic do people consider it so convenient and portable if you can't even play for an hour without hooking it up to an outlet?

If you're really thinking about a $2000 gaming laptop, you could instead save money and have 2 machines: an epic $1200-$1500 desktop build with the best components available, and a cheapo sub $500 laptop for school/work.

i don't remember what it was but i remember something about celeron processors that weren't that great for gaming because they had something turned off in them but i forget what. Something about graphic calculations or something or other.

As the last poster said though what is your purpose for getting a gaming laptop rather than a desktop?

Hello!

Unfortunately, the amount of RAM that you would want to add to this laptop is not going to help very much. These machines are not made for gaming and the Integrated graphics simply won't do.

^this, you need a dedicated graphics card of some kind in order to play modern games.

and also, the appeal of gaming laptops is fairly niche as indeed you can easily get the same power for half the price in a desktop, in my case i got a gamer laptop so i can game even when on trips, i use it when i visit my folks and friends in other towns, and i took it to India on a business trip so i could still meet up with my buddies online on weekends.

Video Card: Radeon HD 7750

OS: Windows 7 64bit

It's a pre-built >.< and the only thing I upgraded was the graphics card, but which settings would be the best for it?

I havent played the game personally but with those specs you should be able to play medium-high?

Do you know if your RAM is ddr3 or ddr2?

Also you'll probably have to OC your processor or get a higher up processor.

Thanks for the insight,

I checked and it's 1333MHz ddr3 RAM. I can get up to 8gb with my mobo, so I feel like I might as well upgrade my RAM now, since there are a lot of sales going on.

I'm looking into to build a budget PC using one of the Trinity APUs along with the 6670 for dual graphics or possibly just the 7750. I'll probably also get a motherboard that can utilize at least 16gb of RAM. I don't know how much of an improvement that would be though. >.>

Lowest settings, below 30fps. Get something with an AMD APU if you must have a laptop.
