No it wouldn't be ^^

Putting your own gaming PC together will cost you less than the 1,000 USD (Minimum) that Apple asks for their Macbooks.

I don't think I was clear. I'm going to buy an Apple laptop to replace my current old one, for a number of reasons that have nothing to do with gaming. If I were to buy a gaming PC in addition to that laptop, it would be more expensive than simply making sure that the replacement laptop has the muscle to do gaming as well.

Not looking to start up that old argument, but that's just how it is, though I appreciate the concern for my wallet. :)

Not an argument mon.

But if what you wanted was to run it under Bootcamp or Parallels, then yes. More RAM will help. An SSD will only help with cutscenes, though and nothing else.

Was just being careful, didn't mean to direct that solely at you! And Boot Camp was the plan, yeah.

Only with cutscenes, you say? A friend kept stressing how an SSD would be more help for running things than any processor, but damn they are expensive and for not all that much space. Would be nice to save some money if it's not actually going to significantly affect anything in gameplay.

SSD only helps you with loading files and programs quicker. It also boosts processing time for some applications in specific but rarely if ever works well with MMO and other games in general.

All around, SSD is the future. They're amazing all around.

But for gaming in specific? Not really all that great.

You'll notice that some areas load a little smoother with SSD if anything. But the biggest win in TERA is how easy they load cutscenes and other things that have rendering set to on demand.

Oh and Arec, I'll be on Celestial Hills with some friends who want to RP.

But I'll also have a few other characters in PVP realms. Haven't thought of which just yet.

I don't know how the NCsoft lawsuit is going in NA. But over in Korea the case made it's way all the way to the Supreme Court of Korea.

The Supreme Court of Korea finally came down with a decision yesterday and decided that BHS itself was not guilty of any charges or wrongdoings.

But charged YH PARK (former TERA's executive director, who stepped down last Aug.) and two other former NCSOFT Employees of Leaking Corporate trade secrets, and each have to pay 2 billion won each in restitution to NCsoft, and will now face criminal charges. Criminal charge sentencing will be held at a later date.

This is the final decision of the Korean supreme court.

http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=43641

Like another Phoenix Wright episode, case closed. BHS not guilty.

Those initially involved in the issue have been fined.

Moving on.

Well it should not have any bearing for NA atm.

The case is still being arranged here in the US. Keep in mind it took 3+ years in Korea just to get to this stage.

Doubtful the case in NA will get too far either.

BHS is literally clean of all fault and they own the property as it was bought/obtained through contract from the previous employees. So technically this whole fiasco has been a transfer of rights over what I suspect is a few bits of code and nothing more.

But you never know.

The NA courts are ridiculous when it comes to patents. They're known to even take patent trolls seriously, unless a competent judge steps in.

From a logical standpoint, this should be over.

From the drama driven world we live in point of view? Far from over.

Woah hold up second guys. I think we are reading this case wrong.

This case is a criminal case between NCsoft and former employees of NCsoft. This is not the civil case of NCsoft vs. BHS. The NCsoft vs. BHS case is still pending an appeal.

2011 January: Civil court dismissed previous ruling, stating Bluehole Studio will not need to pay for the damages.

The BHS vs NCSOFT case has been over for a while. But the posted new update for this year only re-affirms it by re-stating it again.

I don’t think so Tash. It looks to me that NCsoft appealed that decision in 2011.

Beside of the prosecution’s suit, the civil case for damages leaded by NCSoft is waited for the court’s ruling. NCSoft claim damages of US 5.7 million against Bluehole Studios, the developer of TERA. NCsoft won the original trial, but Bluehole Studio won the second trial.

http://www.thisisgame.com/en/2012/04/17/former-lineage3-developers-are-guilty

There will be another high court case coming up soon, which is the one between NCsoft and Bluehole Studio. NCsoft is suing Bluehole Studio a massive 6,500,000,000 Korean Won for economic losses….. Bluehole Studio has been ordered by the court to pay NCsoft 2,000,000,000 Korean Won so far, which was later debunked.

http://www.mmoculture.com/2012/04/former-ncsoft-staff-jailed-for-lineage.html

The way I read these statements is that NCsoft won the first Civil case and BHS appealed that decision. BHS then won the second civil case (the one in 2011), and NCsoft appealed that decision. Now it comes down to South Korea’s Supreme Court to finally settle the matter.

Civil cases are way too confusing.

Ah well. Either way, it's unlikely they'll stop TERA at this point. If anything, there will likely be some form of agreement for profit split.

Despite the wrongdoings by those few ex-staff members, this whole mess has only made me more angry towards NCSOFT.

These are some really lame court troll tactics they're employing here. But I suppose this is to be expected of NCSOFT.

Oh Tash this is nothing! lol. This is small potatoes.

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/MMORPG-PC-Game-Patent-Infringement,8674.html

Pretty much every major NA player in the MMO scene has had to settle with this "Paltalk Holdings Inc," Just so they can do business. The article is a little old, but I’m sure they are still around.

I do agree with you Tash, I expect some sort of settlement/profit sharing to result of this case.

I don’t want to come down as too much of a hard-ass, but I got to side with NCsoft. Don’t get me wrong, I love TERA. I think it’s a great game. I have two accounts ready and waiting for the game. But that does not change the fact NCsoft was stolen from. As someone who has been waiting for the true successor to L2 for a long time, I can only wonder what would have been.

Oddly enough I hope that both BHS and Ncsoft will be able to grow as game developers after this. NCsoft has been the top dog in Korea for a very long time. Some real competition between the two should hopefully lead to better games in the future.

You don't have stuffs, though. So it's all good!

You always know how to make me cry.

I don't know with this rocky start even without the whole court issue, they didn't seem to hit the right note with Korea, but hey you could always move to the west... oh no wait all the anime style hate.

I don't know how forgiving those guys over there, if they are reasonable they can probably save themselves.
