I just have to ask this question because it's coming to a point where I really want to understand what the majority of the B&S fanbase in the West is actually looking for in B&S. This can also help NCWest collect information.

So it's simple, a lot might say they like both and don't mind either. But there's a tendency or preference for one. Which is yours? What do you want to play more, the pvp or the pve?

PvE. I'm usually terrible at PvP, or it's unbalanced. So I mean unless it's focused on PvP and they put a lot of work into it (not what BnS is focusing on so) I'm not gonna bother with it.

I like both, but I prefer PvE. I have always found the many different creatures in games interesting, and I think having them allows for an expansive world (whereas if Blade & Soul was solely PvP, I doubt there would be any use in having a big, open world). It all adds to the feel of adventure. Competition between players, if done well, is a plus.

Generally speaking I'm after the experience---so it's both PvE and PvP. Overall what I expect to experience most is PvE though so I guess that's going to be where the brunt of my interests are gonna be, considering how much PvE affects PvP.

In games like this...unless you can buy items or work up points through PvP to further your ability along....PvE is extremely important. Even still---without that PvE is where you LEARN to use your character and figure out how everything works in the first place.

\Guess with that....PvE is most important.

I enjoy both but for now i prefer PvE. I have to admit i didnt try out the new PvP thing yet, not much time to play at the moment but when i find myself in too much freetime i definitly try it.

PvP. PvE can only be fun for a short time and will be clreaed within a week or so. Devs cant make it challenging enough because that would leave the overall playerbase behind and would deny them content.

PvP is were it really is.

I prefer PvE in mmorpgs, I find it to be more flexible for builds. In my opinion PvP in many mmorpgs cater to certain builds/classes a bit more, thus restricting me.

PvP - only play with other human may be real challenge, not repeatable and really fun.

I generally suck at pvp and have never really gotten into it, but after seeing the new 1v1 3v3 arena I think I may have to get into it ^_^ So I spend most of my time in pve which in a story-based game like B&S is quite important, but alas we have another MMO conforming to the bad, poorly designed mechanic known as the fetch quest.

I think I'm gonna go with pve however, as the world in B&S is simply astounding. ^_^

My personal preference has always been PvE. However ever since I stopped playing WoW (my first major MMO), I never really devoted my time and made it to late game content and PvP with a new MMO.

But since then I've been playing a lot of League. And with BnS I intend on making it to late game, and that would include PvP, so perhaps with the experience I have gotten from League ABOUT PvP.... I can learn to like it more and more importantly be a lot better at it when I was playing WoW..

But I was pretty good at them low level BG's

I enjoy both, but...

If I had to pick one, I would pick PvP. I could play a game with 100% pvp and no pve content, but I could never play a game with 100% pve content and no pvp. However obviously I prefer it when games have copious amounts of both.

There's just something more visceral, and real to me, about fighting living, breathing, thinking human beings that can learn and adapt instead of scripted computer generated events. It's also an easier outlet to fuel my... competitive nature I guess. I like being the best at whatever I put effort into, and it's faster and ultimately more rewarding to get that satisfaction in PvP than in PvE for me.

TBH my only concern for B&S is the PvP content. I already know I'll enjoy the PvE aspects. I'm glad they recently added the 1v1 and 3v3 battles, and I'm hoping they have more in store for the future, even for before it's finished being westernized.

PVE, can't play a game without a good story for too long, it gets boring quickly.

never really been good at or interested in PVP, though I might try it again when the game is out.

This is a hard one, but i'm leaning more toward PVE. There are times when I just want to take it easy and do my own thing or feel really powerful and take down difficult bosses, i find that a bit more rewarding. PVP however is a good pass-time if you aren't focused on endgame dungeons/raids. And In my opinion, pvp is beneficial to pve because i treat both forms of combat equally, so if i'm pvping i could use some things I've learned in pve.

I hate pvp because I get so frustrated so easily. I might still try it if there is some structured pvp but if not then I'll probably stick with pve.

PVP is usually my "end game" thing; for when I level alts or log on to pass the time.

Given that this is what I do the most, I'd say PVP is my orientation.

However, PVP content as someone noted, is seriously lackluster in B&S, so I am not going in with any hopes or high expectations as far as PVP goes. It'll likely be mostly for the PVE.

So my PVP vote might as well be void.

PvP, but from all the things I'm reading here and there it seems like there's not a lot to actually look forward to.

I'm personally a pvp sorta guy BUT this pve is sorta like killing another player that's a robot and i like the way the dungeons look on youtube at least Steparu and Daybreeze channel make the dungeons looks REALLY cool flying or gliding from platform to platform until u get to the boss.

I think it's safe to say that Western players tend to enjoy PvE more than PvP, compared to Eastern players

Prefer PVP looking at all the vids I can tell I am going to end up doing what I usually do I'll do 1-2 dungeons then go to town/the arena for like 3 hours and just duel people non stop

You'd say that but look at EvE online its nothing BUT PVP and alot of its player base is the western market, it holds a decent amount of players alot of which have been loyal to the game for a LONG time. Open world PVP = dynamic gameplay allows you to create your own ingame stories to tell to friends or you and your friends can setup interesting experiences for other people to enjoy, I believe there is a video of DayZ where 4 guys are in a bus shouting party bus continuously as they run along a man on the side of the road the 4 men get out of the bus and demand the travel gets in the party bus or dies. These sorts of things can ONLY happen thanks to Open world PVP, heck even with Dueling you can setup bets with handy-caps etc.

I feel like having more PvE oriented players than PvP players is the norm for mmorpg's.

In reality though, the idea behind these games is that they aim to have a broad spectrum of activities to appeal to large audiences. PvP or PvE, casual or hardcore, vanity collecting or stat crunching, solo'ing or grouping, in the end the best games are the ones have something for everyone.

I agree compeltely, and love sandbox PvP. However I feel like games specifically have to be designed with those ideas in mind for them to take root. The best example I can think of having played is Warhammer online. The game is compeltely based on large scale Realm vs Realm PvP content. The developers provide the tools, like keeps, forts, objectives, siege weapons, ect, but It's completely up to the players in the game world to create their own battles and fights and make their own end game content.

However both EvE and Warhammer were designed with those ideas in mind from the drawing board, and offer practically nothing for people who don't like PvP or sandbox games. That doesn't mean they aren't good games, it just means they are niche games targeted at specific audiences.
