Use this thread to discuss possible payment options for B&S in NA/EU and other regions. Please adhere to the forum rules and report any bad posts.

For those not familiar with the usual payment options:

p2p -> pay 2 play : Usually involves a monthly fee;

b2p -> buy 2 play : Usually just buying the game covers the whole money spending part. Big updates might come as expansions that are required to be bought to be able to experience that content;

f2p -> free 2 play : Free to play, just need to download the game from the site, though some features and items are usually only made available through a premium shop that uses real money as a currency.

Note: No payment information for NA/EU has been disclosed

I am personally fine with B2P or P2P. If it's P2P in NA/EU hope it's like $12 a month like International Ragnarok Online was =P, I played it for 5 years haha.

Nothing has been said but I think it'll stay to what it has been with other NCsoft releases, P2P. I only see them going Bp2 or F2P is when subscriptions are going down drastically, that's when they'll focus more on cash shops. One of the reasons i hate b2p or f2p is they tend to focus on RTM heavily which in the long run breaks balance.

I prefer B2P because i don't need to pay all the time and if it's anything else then there's little chance that i will play the game for a long time, unfortunately. Well, it's not as if i have as much money to spend as i want :cold:

What Basti said.

They can do whatever suits their business best, so long as it doesn't involve P2W (Pay to win) as some other MMOG do.

I personally feel the best route is P2P with vanity shop.

But if they do this route, they should follow EME example with TERA and allow a full year subscription with discounts (IE You only pay roughtly 8 USD a month for TERA when you do a full year subscription; but you pay nearly 15 USD when you pay on a month by month basis).

Well that's how Aion was.

Don't care what they do I'll pay what it's worth to me and no more.

But i think P2P would suit the game better so they don't have to fully relay on the cash shop

OK, let's think!

If this game was going to be released 3 years ago, I will sure said that it will be a P2P.

But now I don't really know.

Because 3 years ago, the Innova lauched L2.ru with F2P. Since then, while the international (US and European) servers were shrinking, the L2.ru was growing.

The diference has became to big, that the NCSoft was ceded their European servers to innova and started the Truly Free plan for US servers, to avoid the player migration to the european servers and to try revive the L2.

This was a sucessful! The players growth was to big, that they simply converted all P2P games to Truly Free (F2P) model in few mouths.

Today I really don''t know if they will not simply launch the B&S as F2P model. But with all others games (except Guild Wars that is B2P) using the F2P, the chances that they use the same model are great.

I will not be surprised when the game comes to this side that it can be directly lauched in their "Truly Free" model.

Now everthing is possible.

A game such as this? Where they've already sunk MILLIONS? I highly doubt it will be F2P. P2P is it's only logical course.

Looking at the past endeavors of NC, I'm expecting this to be P2P as well.

I don't mind it, I understand it and since I'm expecting it, "I ain't even mad"

(In fact, I'm used to paying monthly/bi-monthly for MMO's )

Should the game be B2P I'd be very pleasantly surprised, but honestly I won't think it will be.

I laught at the thought of this game going F2P and those that hope this is the case deserve to be punted by a Lyn.

Finally I agree that B2W should be banished from the digital world, but alas, that shall not happen.

So I'll just hope that IF there is a gold-shop (micro-transactions, if you will) that it just holds aesthetic / non-combat items.

Clothes / dyes / pets / hair-styles that sort of stuff. Mundane items we all want that distinguishes us from the rest :]

No matter what model it is there will be a cashshop.

Because that's the future of milking money companies see. All P2P games have cashshops now.

I don't think this thread is all about anyone's ability to predict a cash shop existing in B&S or not. If it pleases you to turn out correct in your prediction, so be it. The much bigger concern is what someone has dubbed p2w which is masked as f2p.

Never said there wasn't gonna be one.

In fact I agree with you. I kind of expect there to be one as well.

But I'm somewhat torn. See on top of paying a monthly fee, people would use a cash-shop, paying even more money for an item?

In a sense you'd say that a cash-shop only really comes to rights in a B2P or F2P model.

Depending on NC's state of mind regarding this and the eventual payment model....a cashshop does not necessarilly have to be present.

But it's not surprise to see the cash-shop micro-transaction model making it big,

cause I do think it IS a good approach...from a market standpoint, that is.

Ah~

The un-enviable world of 'Freemium'

Buying packs that boost exp, grant killer weaponry starting at Lv. 1

and enough armor to withstand Armageddon 3, 4 and 5.

A truly nasty creation that P2W model...

People are willing to shell out more money even after paying 15 bucks a month it's a brilliant business move.

I hope that will be p2p... If f2p this game will be ruin... And in p2p can add cash shop which will be more productive.. I have some opinions with sogeking.. That not all of us can spend more time in this game.. Maybe a few hours a day compare to those hardcore player that sit infront of the desktop all days.. And one more point is if p2p it will need to extend every month... If b2p i think it just pay at the first time only... So didnt need to worry about the login things..

Hmm, that is true.

See in this country people are very skeptich about using their creditcard details

and thus prefer to go about it another way.

As such, gametime cards are very popular here.

Problem with that is, that you pay for 2 months, turning 15 bucks into 28-30.

It's psychological, since you're not paying more, just more at once.

But because of that, paying "even more" is slightly frowned upon.

(that and we're just a very cheap people :x )

I am also expecting P2P. And Again I prefer this. To X the cash shop. P2P with a cash shop..

Would only lead to people racing to become the strongest.

Ganking other questers who don't use the CS.

So on..

Regardless.

This is nothing more then a fear brought on by P2W.
