For what I could tell, every two weeks the Koreans have an official discussion topic about several topics related to the game.

With my poor Korean skills (aka Google and Systranet) I'll try to deliver you my best.

Since we're also a discussion forum I decided to bring this discussion to you.

This time the discussion is about customization.

We all know we should expect the best for Blade and Soul, but what do you really want?

Here are the options:

1. Full customization, every aspect, every detail, every thing I can imagine.

2. With simple presets, but even so able to create someone beautiful.

3. Play with pre-determined characters, like the ones seen in the game~

4. Character customization? Bah, make it random. Me wants to play!

Here they are, not sure if it is "well" translated but it was the best I could.

Now, vote and discuss!

The poll will end on the 31th like the official one.

Full customization FTW! I enjoy that kind of thing, and not just for MMO's. Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc. I think that when I was in the Aion beta I played around with character customization for like an hour before actually playing the game.

Although in terms of creating a realistic game setting I think they need to a better job of limiting how crazy you can go with head size, arm length, etc. Despite those kinds of characters being pretty funny it kills the immersion factor.

I'd go for presets. Limit or no limit, there's always a way to screw up and make your char look ugly. And I certainly won't tolerate ugly looking hags in such a masterpiece of a game :D

+1 for full customization here.

But not to overdo it, let the sliders have somewhat realistic limits..

pre-sets sound good with your general customization o.o

not that to in depth stuff, where you're doing the right cheek bone, and pupil size

and all that

Full customization w/ a couple dozen presets available for those who aren't into customization. Aion did a pretty good job with the customization. Sims sliders for facial features and body parts, the more the better! For a lot of players, the more you can customize the more connected and personal you feel to the character. Unlike, say, FFXI (and FFXIV too, apparently) where everyone looks the same...

suppose that makes sense, considering in their commentary video they said they wanted to bring out the player in their character

so far, they're boasting really nice costume outfits. not sure character customization will be of less par

You've just confirmed one of my initial concerns for the game, heheh. They did showcase a handful of customization options in the Gstar video, such as hairstyles and eye variation, but mayhaps still too early to show more.

But, like you said, they're aware of how important customization is, so I'm not stressing too much about it.

:feel_good:

a concern?? =3

but yeah, the hairstyles seem far out unique and different. with Kim it looks like they're really bringing alot to character customization and look of the character

be great to see how the final turns out, or learn something about it^^

Aye, concern lol. When B&S was announced I looked at the trailer an' thought to myself "Whoa! Looks like Hyung Tae Gim's work in motion!"

Then I thought how the hell are you gonna customize 'em!? lmao :surrender:

I prefer something pre-determined so it is just easier to make the characters, with lots of presets to choose and plus they would look more original (artist) alike. Plus I didn't like the AION customization at all.

I'd have to go with full customization. That fits well with everyone. Even those who don't want to spend their time making their character look awesome. I haven't seen a game that had full customization and not have presets or "default" characters for those people. It just seems the best way to please everyone too.

In my opinion, the character customization is the first and basic element of an mmo. Because there are thousand of players, it's really hard to be unique. But what's the point if you are like everyone else? If you people with the same face and hair like you, with the same clothes and that stuff. So, giving you the opportunity to customize your char as much as you want and make him different from most of the others, is a very nice way to feel you are in the game. Also the clothing is really important. Personally, i don't like everyone in my levels to wear the same clothes. It's kinda boring and not fascinating at all.

Full customize? really? you want that? final answer?

Im gonna go alot of preset faces, hairs and accessories with maybe only body type slightly customizable, why? Because i believe that its not your characters face that matters, but the gear that you swing at the character next to you.

Then it's settled, a crotch/boob slider is a must :haha:

Well i heard "gear that you swing at people" and well...

Anyway not to turn this discussion into a boob one..

What i think they should do with the body customization is not sliders, but the kind of square with a dot that you move around, a two dimensional slider.. PS Home has those i believe, and IIRC so does APB with its godlike customization. That way they can easily make normal limits and still have a limitless amount of possible combinations.

i say pre sets like in tera online, just give us hair style, options to costumize the face like glasses, totoos, make up or earrings, skin and haircolor and just let the bodies be like in the trailers, because if you have too much freedom the style form the designer will vanish and would use that negatively, just look at aion which is already out of control.

btw im 100% sure the full customization wont happen since it would violate heavily the design from kim, only reason aion had so much freedom was because you only had 2 races to choose from so they had to make it that way

IMO bodies matter more than faces, you don't see the face of your character anyway.

What Aion did was just dumb, there is a way to just limit what you can or can not do with your character, just make it so all the ends of the options still make the character look normal and keeping with the artist's style.

Presets are boring, in the end there will be much similarity between lots of different toons. A lot of hair option should be available, even better an option to choose a hair style and then maybe adjust the length - that way they can make less preset hairs and just give like 2-3 option to further customize each.

well what i mean is that it should be this way:like 40 or more colors, faces, hairstyles and that you can adjust all but not the body, because that would lead to ugly char like in aion which made me so angry and at the same time sad for the designer

btw im new here and i love this website very beautiful
