Greetings Blade & Soul fans!

Let me start off by saying that this FAQ is not official. No, NCsoft/Team Bloodlust did not make this FAQ. We, the Dojo, made this FAQ to prevent new users from posting new threads with similar questions repeatedly.

This thread contains commonly asked questions about Blade & Soul. Have a question? Check to see if it's posted here or use our forums search feature before creating a new thread. This thread will be updated at all times by any of the Dojo staff members.

What is Blade & Soul?
Blade & Soul is a Martial Arts Action MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). This game is being developed by Team Bloodlust and published by NCsoft.

Is the game available for download?
No, it isn't.

When is the release date?
The release date has not been announced yet. It is rumored to be released in late 2012 for NA/EU.

Has beta testing started?
Yes, in South Korea. There has been a total of two closed beta testing events that took place in April and August, both lasting for only 5 days to a week.

Can I access the beta?
No, the beta is taking place in South Korea only. In order to participate in the closed beta testing event you need to sign up using a Korean Social Security Number. Please keep in mind that obtaining a KSSN outside of Korea is entirely illegal and asking for one on our boards is strictly prohibited.

What systems will this game be released on?
Blade & Soul will be released for the PC primarily. As for console systems, It is currently unknown weather or not it will be released for the PS3 or Xbox 360. However, there is strong evidence that it will be released on a console system, PS3 most likely.

Will you be able to play the PC version with a controller?
Yes.

What regions will the game be released in?
This game will be released in South Korea first and foremost. As for any other regions, it is currently unknown when and where this game will be released. Besides South Korea, the regions most likely to receive this game are as follows; NA, AUS, EU, JP, CN and ZAF.

What type of pay model will Blade & Soul use?
It is unknown what pay model NCsoft will be using for Blade & Soul, they have yet to announce one. Expect to see a P2P (pay to play) pay model based on NCsoft's track record.

Has there been a playable demo?
Yes, NCsoft released a playable demo at the G-Star 2010 convention. The demo was only for the conventions attendees and will not be released to the general public.

Will we get to play the demo?
No. The playable demo was exclusive to the G-Star 2010 convention in Busan, Korea.

What are the playable races?
Jin, Gon, Kun, Lyn. Click here for more information.

What are the playable classes?
There will be 8 total playable classes in Blade & Soul. Only 6 of the 8 have been officially revealed and are as follows:

Will we be able to play any class with any race?
No. Based of the playable demo presented in G-Star 2010 and the previous two closed beta test events, class and race combinations are restricted. Here's a list of all the races and what classes they can be.

  • Jin: Assassin, Blade Master, Kung-Fu Master
  • Gon: Kung-Fu Master, Destroyer
  • Kun: Blade Master, Force Master
  • Lyn: Force Master

What are the health recovery methods in the game?
It is currently unsure wether or not Blade & Soul will contain healing spells, Team Bloodlust seems to be on the fence about it. However, we can tell you that there will be different kinds of foods and potions that will be used to recover health and power.

What is Qing Gong?
Qing Gong will allow you to move at extremely fast speeds and to reach unusually high locations. You'll have a variety of hard to reach places in Blade & Soul that are only reachable through Qing Gong.

You can use Qing Gong in Blade & Soul by pressing a direction button twice. Hitting [Q], [W], [E] or [S] twice will cause you character to sprint in the direction specified, activating Qing Gong. If you hit the [Space] bar while using Qing Gong your character will soar up into the air, hit [Space] bar again and you will begin to descend in a gliding state slowly. In order to keep descending, you must hold down the [Space] bar.

Qing Gong will slowly use up the Qing Gong meter, so you won't be able to use this ability all the time. The meter can be found directly under your characters status bars (Health/Power).

Is there an official English site for Blade & Soul?
You can find the official English Blade & Soul site here. However, it is currently empty and contains no information regarding the game in English. Blade & Soul only has an official Korean website and forums, it can be found here.

What are the specs needed to run B&S?
Team Bloodlust released the following specs for the first closed beta testing phase.
