Just a list of services I rely upon on a daily basis. Some of you might already be familiar with these, but it came to me that many still aren't. So here you go!
- Dropbox - An online file storage service with cross-platform accessibility. Installing their native client provides you with a convenient way to access your files without the use of a browser. The foremost awesomeness about Dropbox lies in its free service:
- 2GB of storage space
- Ability to raise the cap to 8GB by the means of friend invitation
- Unlimited bandwidth
- No file size limit
- Hotlinking (yes! Hotlinking!) (e.g. mp3 file)
- Sharing selected folders with other Dropbox users
Downsides:
- Despite the awesome speed and uptime of their servers you still may randomly experience short accessibility failures (short as in 5-10 seconds long)
- Even though an account with Dropbox feels similar to an enhanced ftp account, you're unable to host web-sites on it. It won't process neither html nor php files. However, you're still fully privileged to hotlink videos, music, and the likes directly onto your web-site.
- 2GB of storage space
- Evernote - An intuitive way of storing personal notes, links, an the likes, cross-platform. Register, download client, bam! Write a diary, assemble information for an essay, or simply store random shit. Pasted information is image and style enabled.
- Pixlr - Photoshop takes too much time to load, and yet you're anxious to do a quick resize, a crop, a filter? Pixlr is what you're looking for. If you found the image online, you don't even need to save it, just paste the link directly into the editor.
- Tumblr - like no other blogging platform out there, Tumblr truly stands out. And its perks lie in its genuine simplicity.
- You can create a blog the likes of Wordpress and Blogger.
- You can create additional pages, a la CMS.
- You can create unlimited blogs per account.
- You can turn your blog into a portoflio, an image or video gallery.
- You can upload as many pictures, videos and music as you see fit. The only restriction for the later two are the upload limit per day and size.
- You can upload 18+ content.
- You can turn your blog into a completely self-coded web-page. (example: ncoterie.tumblr.com)
- You can use it as an image host a la imageshack.us.
- You can create a blog the likes of Wordpress and Blogger.
